Sun or Ascendant in Cancer with Ray 6

Sun Cancer (or Ascendant Cancer), R6P (or R6S)
Plus Constellationally Transmitted R3 and R7

A strong mutual reinforcement of ray and astrological energies emerges due to the sixth ray transmitted through

Neptune—the esoteric and hierarchical ruler of Cancer. This reinforcement is naturally stronger for disciples and initiates; its applicable categories are Strong by Rulership—Class 2, and Strong by Rulership—Class 3. The Moon, as ruler of the third decanate exoterically and the first decanate esoterically, inclines, in this sign, to be a veil for the sixth ray planet,

Neptune. Venus, transmitting ray six {probably through its monad}, is ruler of the first decanate {in exoteric order} and of the last {in esoteric order}.

This rulership will strengthen the sixth ray, especially in relation to Class 3. The mutual reinforcement of this combination is further strengthened combination because sixth ray

Neptune is exalted in Cancer, and because Cancer, an ocean sign, is related to the astral body—the ‘ocean of sentiency’.

Selfish, Self-Centered or Self-Serving Human Being

Selfish, Self-centered or Self-Serving Human Being

  1. The clinging nature of the self-absorbed Cancer person combines with the adherence to the objects of desire induced within the insufficiently spiritualized personality by the sixth ray.
  2. The instinctuality of Cancer combines with the potent desire of the sixth ray.
  3. The Lunar Lords (the sixth Creative Hierarchy), the sixth ray, and Cancer (associated with the sixth or astral plane and ruled by the Moon and Neptune, which are both associated with the astral plane, combine forces to make the lunar lords (who in their combination are “the Beast”—666) excessively powerful.
  4. Devotion to the “Mother” process, and to the third aspect of divinity, in general.
  5. The assumed obligation of personal procreativity—creating many children (or rather, the forms for many incarnating souls).
  6. Excessively energized solar plexus.
  7. Excessive devotion to the past. Retrogressive tenacity.
  8. Rigid and narrow devotion to particular persons, places and things.
  9. Unreasoning devotion to the “near ones”—most often to their detriment.
  10. My teacher, my team, my family, my child—“right or wrong”! “He may be a scoundrel, but he’s our scoundrel!”
  11. Selfishly-motivated, short-sighted ‘rescues’.
  12. Seeking selfish, personal salvation in “heaven”.
  13. Desire to remain focussed within the field of feelings and emotion. Refusal to progress into the field of the mind.
  14. Irrational adherence and adhesion. Refusal to “let go” of that which must be released.
  15. Emotional blindness—aggravating the early Cancerian condition in which “The Blind Unit is Lost”. (EA 332)

Advanced Human Being; Aspirant; Disciple: Additionally, where relevant, combine Ascendant Sign with the ray of either the ray of the personality or soul.

Advanced Human Being; Aspirant; Disciple

    1. The abiding loyalty of the advancing Cancer individual combines with the devotion induced within the spiritually unfolding personality by the sixth ray.
    2. The protectiveness of Cancer combines with the devotion and loyalty of the sixth ray.
    3. Growing loyalty and devotion to higher ideals and causes.
    4. Devoted care for those who are loved.
    5. Capacity to motivate and uplift. the masses. and inspire them to higher ideals. Feeding the aspiration of the masses.
    6. On the Path of Discipleship: the ability to keep lunar lords (one’s own or those of others) in a state of aspiration.
    7. On the Path of Discipleship: orientation to the soul, the Masters, or the Hierarchy as ‘safe haven’. Similarly, “Taking refuge in the Buddha”.
    8. On the Path of Discipleship: recognition that the lower three worlds are not one’s true home.
    9. On the Path of Discipleship: persistent loyalty to the Teacher, the Great Ones, the inner god, the “Higher Power”.

Advanced Disciple; the Initiate: Additionally, where relevant, combine Ascendant Sign with the ray as either the ray of the personality or soul.

Advanced Disciple; the Initiate
Additionally, where relevant, combine Ascendant Sign, Cancer, with the sixth ray as either the ray of the personality or soul

    1. The self-sacrificial orientation of the Divine Mother, loving and protecting allan attitude of great benevolence characteristic of the soul-infused disciple/initiate born in or under the sign Cancer, combines with a self-forgetful “devotion unto death” induced within the soul or spiritualized personality by the sixth ray.

    2. Devotion to humanity which is “Seen as One”—as the “One Humanity”.

    3. Determination to inspire humanity (Cancer) to higher ideals and a nobler sense of values (sixth ray).

    4. Understanding that the Earth is home (however temporary) to all human beings, coupled with the determination to protect them and their home.

    5. The capacity to bring buddhi (unselfish love) into the astral plane.

    6. The capacity to protect humanity, even at the cost of one’s life. Self-less sacrifice.

    7. Devoted determination to protect the “little ones” whomever they may be.

    8. Ceaseless, perseveringly-devoted Mother-Love for all of humanity. Increasingly, the attitude of the monad—a “Lord of persevering and ceaseless devotion”. (EP I 48)

    9. Unswerving orientation towards “Home”—whether literal, symbolic or to be found upon the higher planes.

    10. Unconscious, then increasingly conscious orientation towards the monad.

Discover Potentials to be Derived from Energetic Similarities

Discover Potentials to be Derived from
Energetic Similarities Between Cancer and R6

Utilize these similarities to further understand how these two energies may combine with or reinforce each other (for better of for worse) when they are found within the same energy system.

A.   Related to the Astral Plane: Both energies are closely connected to the astral plane. Both Neptune and the Moon are directly connected to this plane. The Moon is a symbol of emotional sensitivity and responsiveness. Neptune, “God of the Waters” transmits the sixth ray and is, thus, directly related to the sixth plane, the astral. By numerical affinity, the sixth ray rules over the sixth or astral plane.

B.   Connected to the Lunar Lords: Both energies have a direct connection to the Lunar Lords (the members of the Sixth Creative Hierarchy) (cf. EA 35) These Lunar Lords are non-individualized, elemental entities which are basis of instinctual consciousness. Cancer, the sign governing instinctuality, is generically associated with the four Lunar Lords which comprise the human personality. The sixth ray is the ray most associated with the Creative Hierarchy of Lunar Lords—the sixth.

C.   “Heaven”: Both influences are related to the concept of heaven. For the Cancerian, heaven is a protected and secure place of happiness. For the sixth ray type, heaven is an ideal place which can envisioned as a goal of high endeavor. Neptune is related to both influences, and the heaven envisioned is usually Neptunian.

D.   Tenacity and Persistence: Both influences are endowed with tenacity and persistence. The claws of the Crab let go only with reluctance. The sixth ray type counts all things as loss unless the objective is achieved. Both influences, therefore, incline towards adhesiveness.

E.   Nostalgia and Sentimentality: Both influences incline towards nostalgia and sentimentality; in neither case is it easy to achieve unbiased, undistorted evaluation.

F.   Glamor-Inducing, at First: Both influences are, at first, glamor-inducing. In neither is there great clarity in relation to the astral plane.

G.   Devotion: Through both influences pours the energy of devotion. Cancer and the sixth ray are both cherishing energies. Often they must have concrete embodiments to adore.

H.   Narrowness, Limitation—False Certainty: Both influences induce a false certainty which arises from limited scope or a narrow point of view.
