Visualization for Rule XIII for Applicants

(Because this Visualization is more complex than usual, it can be simplified by concentrating on one or two ‘ponderings’ rather than all of the four sentences involved.)

“Four things the disciple must learn and comprehend before he can be shewn that inmost mystery:  first, the laws of that which radiates; the five meanings of magnetisation make the second; the third is transmutation, or the secret lost of alchemy; and lastly the first letter of the Word which has been imparted, or the hidden name egoic.”

1.      Align with the soul.

2.      Visualize and reaffirm the individual antahkarana.

3.      Align with the group soul and realize your identity with it.

4.      Visualize and reaffirm the group antahkarana glowing with all seven colors of the rainbow.

5.      Utilizing the group antahkarana, imagine the group open and accessible to the levels of the spiritual triad, and increasingly infused by the energies of those dimensions.

6.      See the group soul approaching identification with the Spiritual Hierarchy of our planet, and with the Christ at the Heart of Hierarchy.

7.      Ponder on the nature of the “inmost mystery”. As we study the four things which must be learned and comprehended, hold in mind the thought that they lead to the revelation of the “inmost mystery”.

8.      First Pondering: Ponder on the meaning of “that which radiates”. What is it that radiates? With what aspect of divinity is it concerned? How are the Laws of “that which radiates” different from the Laws of Radiation?

9.      Second Pondering: Ponder on the meaning of the “five meanings of magnetization”. What are the five modes in which the Law of Magnetization works? Are these five meanings related to the structure of the soul conceived as fivefold?

10. Third Pondering: Ponder on the meaning of transmutation: “the passage across from one state of being to another through the agency of fire”.

11. Visualize the forces focused within you personality.

12. Imagine the “stepping up” of your personality forces into egoic energy through spiritual alchemy.

13. What would you have to do to promote this process within your energy system?

14. Fourth Pondering: Ponder on “the first letter of the Word which has been imparted, or the hidden name egoic”:

a.      What does this mean to you in the microcosmic sense?

b.      What does this mean to you in the macrocosmic sense, in relation to the first letter in the hidden name of Sanat Kumara?

15. Gather the realizations which have come to you in the course of this meditation.

16. On the sound of the OM, send forth the essence of your realization to uplift the field of human consciousness.

17. Sound the Great Invocation

18. OM OM OM

Let the group get ready to reveal the hidden mystery.

7.      Ponder deeply on what you consider to be the “hidden mystery”. As you do this seek through antahkaranic technique to identify as the Monad.

8.      Sustaining the sense of monadic identification (or, at least, connection) seek to merge in soul with your fellow group members. Visualize the group as one soul and imaginatively realize that you have left far behind the possibility of functioning as a personality.

9.      Ponder deeply on the “hidden mystery” as related to the purpose and reason for which our Planetary Logos took incarnation and became the informing Life of our planet, the Earth.

10. Ponder on the evolutionary goal of Sanat Kumara as He (seeking to take the cosmic initiation which lies before Him and thus begin to work through a sacred planet) responds to the overshadowing Solar Logos.

11. Attempt to come into rapport with the meaning of the Transfiguration of Sanat Kumara—the initiatory step which will allow Him to express through a sacred planet.

12. Attempt to visualize quite practically what it would mean for Earth to become a sacred planet.

13. Gather the realizations which have come to you in the course of this meditation.

14. On the sound of the OM, send forth the essence of your realization to uplift the field of human consciousness.

15. Sound the Great Invocation

16. OM OM OM

Visualization for Rule XIII for Disciples and Initiates, Sentence II

Let the group demonstrate the higher meaning of the lessons learnt, and these are four and yet are one.”

  7. What are four lessons which have been learnt through the stages of spiritual development which lead up to the expression of Rule XIII for Disciples and Initiates?

  8. Relate these four preliminary lessons to

    1. The physical plane interpreted in terms of desire

    2. The astral plane interpreted in terms of the mind, and thus the slow mastery of kama-manas

    3. The master of the personality as it implements desire which is prompted by the mind

    4. The soul as it reveals the meaning of love and the mastery of pain, leading to an understanding of the meaning of group activity, group relation, and group initiation.

  9. Review the ideas of Radiation, Magnetisation, Transmutation and  Impartation from the microcosm perspective. Can you relate them in any way to the four preliminary lessons stated immediately above?

  10. Attempt to realize that the higher meaning of the four lessons previously learnt are also to be expressed in the following four words: Radiation,  Magnetisation, Transmutation and Impartation.

  1. First Pondering: Ponder on the nature of Radiation. Attempt to understand the initiate as a radiating center of light and love.

      1. What would it mean for you or your group brothers and sisters to become essential and vital factors for unity in the Master’s Ashram?

      2. Do you sense in any way that you are beginning to gather around yourself a group which will become the nucleus of your future Ashram?

  2. Second Pondering: Ponder on the nature of Magnetization. See yourself as a center of light and love being magnetized by the highest divine aspect—Life.

      1. See your group as a center of light and love being magnetized by the highest divine aspect—Life.

      2. See yourself as so inherent in the Ashram and so connected with the Spirit, that you are constantly “charged with Life”.

      3. Visualize that the same is true of your group.

      4. If you and your group were to work with “the impelling law of evolution”, how would you do so?

  3. Third Pondering: Ponder on the nature of Transmutation. Think of various transmutations through which you have passed as you have engaged in the work of transmuting the lower nature into the higher and desire into love, of transforming personality purpose into group livingness and being, with the goal of achieving that complete transfiguration which makes the entire process of transmutation no longer needed.

      1. Ponder on the difference between transmutation as a process and transmutation as an achievement.

      2. What would it take for transmutation to disappear out of your own life (and the life of your group) so that you (and your group) could utilize the art of transmutation as an instrument to transmute that which is not yourself, and thus consciously and with clear purpose further the ends of evolution.

  4. Fourth Pondering: Ponder on the nature of Impartation.

      1. At first ponder on the “Word” of your soul ray (as you imagine it to be) which has been imparted to you through the process of initiation or deep rapport with the soul dimension. Imagine that you have been given a “white stone” and within that stone “a new name” is written—your “hidden name egoic”.

      2. Attune to this name and dwell within its presence and radiation.

      3. What would it take for this “name” to express through your personality? What would be the result?

      4. Ponder, then, upon the distinction between the “Word” and the “Sound”. Realize that the Sound is that of which the O.M. is but a symbol. Realize that this Sound is, as far as you are concerned, connected with the first letter of the sevenfold Name of the Planetary Logos.

      5. Gather the realizations which have come to you in the course of this meditation.

      6. On the sound of the OM, send forth the essence of your realization to uplift the field of human consciousness.

      7. Sound the Great Invocation

      8. OM OM OM

Visualization for Rule XIII for Disciples and Initiates, Sentence III

"Let the group understand the Law of Synthesis, of unity and fusion;

  1. Ponder on the nature of Synthesis. Does it make sense to you that this law (the Law of Synthesis) is the law governing the activities of the Spiritual Triad and is the conditioning law of monadic living? If so, howso?

  2. Ponder on Fusion as related to the conscious merging of soul and substance until a point of equilibrium is achieved.

      1. As you ponder Fusion in depth, dwell on the following thought: “Fusion might therefore be regarded as the individual process of spiritual integration, relating—in full waking consciousness—the three divine aspects in man.”

  3. Ponder on Unity as the resolution of the dualities of soul and personality.

  4.  As you ponder Unity in depth,  dwell on the following thought (You may select different aspects of this thought for pondering on different days): “Unity might be regarded as the conscious adaptation of the initiated disciple to the greater whole, as his absorption into the group through his obedience to the laws of the soul, and as governing his attitude to that in which he lives and moves and has his being.  This goes on until he sees no distinction, registers no differences and is aware of no separative reaction, and all this because the instinct to separation no longer exists in him.  It refers to his oneness in the world of energies in which he moves, making him an unimpeded channel for energy and, therefore, an integral and smoothly working part of his total environment and, above all, of the group to which, automatically and under the laws which govern his soul, he has been attracted… it is the unity of his ray, of his Ashram and of the Plan; it is the unity of the Hierarchy which exists for purposes of service and active work in its seven major groups and its three main departments or divisions.  It is indeed attainment and liberation.”

      1. Attempt to realize how this Unity eventually reveals the potential duality of soul and Spirit.

      2. Ponder on the manner in which Synthesis can resolve the soul/Spirit duality leaving the essential, universal planetary duality, Spirit-matter, present in time and space.

      3. Ponder in depth on the following understanding of Synthesis:

“[Unity] is indeed attainment and liberation.  But more must still be learnt if the Way of the Higher Evolution is to be trodden and a choice between the seven cosmic Paths made—a choice which curiously enough is not dependent upon ray, for all rays are to be found on all these paths. This can only be done through synthesis.

        This Law of Synthesis

"works through the Seven which yet are One; which points to the seven ways and yet those upon the seven ways are one; which initiates the universal into the many but preserves its integrity; which originates the plan but preserves intact the purpose; which sees the multiplicity needed under the Law of Sacrifice but subordinates that law unto the Law of Synthesis; which breathes forth the many Breaths and yet is Life Itself”.

      4. Do you feel you can enter somewhat the realization of Synthesis as you ponder upon this profound section from the Old Commentary?

      5. Ponder on the meaning of building the Antahkarana. How can the building of the Antahkarana and its utilization lead you to a greater understanding of the Law of Synthesis.

      6. Gather the realizations which have come to you in the course of this meditation.

      7. On the sound of the OM, send forth the essence of your realization to uplift the field of human consciousness.

      8. Sound the Great Invocation

let the threefold mode of working with that which is dynamic carry the group together towards the Higher Three where the Will of God holds sway.” (This is a most demanding pondering, and I would suggest dividing it into various sections which will allow you to focus more in depth on various of the sentences proposed for pondering.)

  1. Align with the soul.

  2. Visualize and reaffirm the individual antahkarana.

  3. Align with the group soul and realize your identity with it.

  4. Visualize and reaffirm the group antahkarana glowing with all seven colors of the rainbow.

  6. See the group soul approaching identification with the Spiritual Hierarchy of our planet, and with the Christ at the Heart of Hierarchy.

  7. Ponder on the nature of will as “that which is dynamic”. Attempt to understand the nature of dynamism and why the will is dynamic.

  8. Imaginatively enter the energy of the will and seek to feel and understand the “threefold mode of working” with the will.

  9. Imagine the group suffused by the dynamic will which carries “the group together towards the Higher Three where the Will of God holds sway”. How is it that the group is carried together? Can you feel this dynamic impulse?

  10. Focus on the meaning of the “Higher Will” and attempt to remain open (in group formation) to impression from that Will.

  11. Ponder on the nature of the three Buddhas of Activity in the Council Chamber of Shamballa.

  12. Consider the role of the Three Buddhas as advisors to Sanat Kumara.

  13. Ponder Their “supreme task to see that, in the Council Chamber of Shamballa, that purpose is ever held steadily within the ‘area of preparation’ … of that Council”

  14. Attempt to speculate upon these Buddhas as “linking intermediaries between the Logos of our solar system and the informing Life of the constellation Libra [which is a triangular constellation]; They relate these two great centres of energy to our planetary Logos”

  15. Ponder on the following: “They embody in Themselves in a most peculiar manner the wisdom aspect of the second ray, as it expresses itself primarily through what has been called in the Bhagavad Gita ‘skill in action’.  Hence Their name, the Buddhas of Activity”.

  16. Speculate upon the possible nature of the sacrifice which made it possible for Sanat Kumara to move ahead of Them on the Path.

  17. Ponder on the following: “Under the Law of Analogy, They are to Sanat Kumara what the three mind aspects upon the mental plane are to the disciple and the initiate.  They represent in action:

The concrete or lower mind of the planetary Logos,
That energy which we call the soul and which the disciple calls "the Son of Mind,"
    The higher or abstract mind,

but all this from cosmic levels and with cosmic implications.

  18. Ponder on the Three Buddhas as responsible for:

    1. The Act of Individualization, as it relates to the seventh ray and to the constellations Gemini and Cancer

    2. The Act of Initiation as it relates to the second ray and the constellations Capricorn and Aquarius.

    3. The Act of Identification as it relates to the first ray and to the constellations Aries and Leo.

  19. Dwell upon the “mental proposition” of Deity through which the Three Buddhas implement Their work.

  20. Open your consciousness to the deeper significance of the Science of Triangles, the Triangles Work, and the ways in which the Three Buddhas of Activity relate to the Network of Triangles.

  21. Gather the realizations which have come to you in the course of this meditation.

  22. On the sound of the OM, send forth the essence of your realization to uplift the field of human consciousness.

Visualization for Rule XIII for Disciples and Initiates, Sentence V

let Transfiguration follow Transformation and may Transmutation disappear.” (In this Visualization, I would suggest dividing your attention in such a way that on one day you may ponder on Transmutation, Transformation and Transfiguration as they apply to the disciple becoming the initiate, and that on another day you focus on these same three as they apply to Initiates of higher degree who are already members of the Hierarchy.)

  7. Ponder on the more usual meanings of Transmutation, Transformation and Transfiguration:

    1. Ponder on Transmutation as “the method whereby that which is lower is absorbed by the higher, whereby force is transmuted into energy, whereby the energy of the three lower centres is carried up into the three higher centres (head, heart and throat) and which later enables the initiate to centralise all the energies in the three directing centres in the head.  This transmuting process goes forward under the pressure of daily life experience, under the magnetic effect of soul contact, and as the inevitable result of evolution itself”.

    2. Ponder on Transformation as “the evolutionary process which is carried on upon the Path of Discipleship, in which the disciple transforms his lower threefold ‘appearance’ or personality and begins to display divine ‘quality.’  His physical body becomes obedient to the dictates of his mind, which is becoming responsive to the higher mind through the medium of the soul; his emotional nature becomes the receptacle of buddhi or of the intuition; then, after the third initiation it disappears altogether, and the buddhic vehicle becomes the main instrument of sentiency.  The mind, in due course, is equally transformed by impression from the higher mind, as it endeavours to implement the will nature of the Monad.

    3. Ponder on Transfiguration as “that stage upon the Path of Initiation wherein the third initiation is undergone, wherein the personality is irradiated by the full light of the soul and the three personality vehicles are completely transcended; they have become simply forms through which spiritual love may flow out into the world of men in the salvaging task of creation.”

  8. Now we will turn our attention to higher states of consciousness and being. Imagine the "rainbow bridge" becoming a channel for the impact of monadic or life energy upon substance, so that substance, taking form under the cyclic intention of the planetary Logos, may become increasingly coloured or qualified by the energy of universality.

  9. We turn our imaginative attention to the meaning of Transmutation, Transformation and Transfiguration from the perspective of the initiate in the Hierarchy. We imagine or speculate upon—

    1. Transmutation as “the expression of the life force upon the three lower planes of human living and evolution”. “The three lower planes of transmutation are the dense, liquid and gaseous sub-planes of the cosmic physical plane”.

The mental plane is a unique location (or state of consciousness) whereon or wherein the lower planes are subjected to impression from the three higher.  The higher three and the lower three are subjected to a definitely esoteric and mysterious process, and it is on this plane that the work of transmutation is completed—from the angle of the initiate.

    2. Transformation as it “concerns in a most peculiar manner the three aspects of mind upon the mental plane:

                                                              i.      The lower mind

ii.      The son of mind, the soul

                                                          iii.      The higher mind.

The three planes of the Spiritual Triad are the spheres whereon transformation goes forward.  This transformation has naught to do with the transforming of the personality, but is uniquely related to the interior work of the Hierarchy and the effect of this living, developing intensity upon the Members of the Hierarchy.

Ponder on that which transpires on the higher levels of the spiritual triad: “…on the higher three levels of the Spiritual Triad, another type of evolutionary impulse is directing His activities. “…consciousness (as we understand it) is being transcended, and a new aspect of universal sentiency is taking its place.  To this development I have given the inadequate name of Identification.  This is a word which involves consciousness, which invokes the will, which is dynamic in nature, inclusive in contact, and which is also based upon the doctrine of non-separativeness.

Ponder on identification as the highest expression of divine purpose upon the cosmic physical plane, even whilst it is the lowest aspect of the cosmic astral desire.  “… the transformation with which this rule deals is the transformation of consciousness into identification.

    1. Transfiguration as it “concerns the life of the Spiritual Triad upon its own three levels of identification”.

The two highest planes (the monadic and the logoic) are the planes of transfiguration, from the point of view of the higher initiate.  By then the processes of transmutation have dropped below the threshold of consciousness, and though the initiate (working with forms in the three worlds) has his instrument upon the outer physical plane, his own work and hierarchical activity is strictly triadal and monadic, with a steadily growing responsiveness to logoic intent.

Ponder on the following exalted state: When this initiation [the sixth] has been consummated, the Chohan then transcends the three worlds of the Spiritual Triad and is focussed as a "projecting agent of the Lighted Will" as it expresses itself upon the monadic plane.  This stage of unfoldment is in reality the Ascension initiation, the true significance of which will be revealed through the medium of the coming world religion.

Ponder on the true Transfiguration from the perspective of a Master in the Hierarchy: “There then follows, as a result of this, what is called the true Transfiguration.  This enables the initiate to function upon the logoic or highest plane of the cosmic physical plane.  This—in Christian phraseology—is called the "sitting down upon the right hand of God in Heaven."  There the man who has attained this seventh initiation is transfigured.  The first contact comes along the line which he has projected as a result of transformation; it is made with. That which has ever overshadowed Sanat Kumara.  The Chohan has now taken the seventh initiation.

  1.  Pause to imagine your Spirit-rapport with these exalted dimensions of being and states of consciousness.

      1. Gather the realizations which have come to you in the course of this meditation.

      2. On the sound of the OM, send forth the essence of your realization to uplift the field of human consciousness.
