Dissipation of Glamour Initiative webinar 189, reading no. 125.\u00a0 The reading was from\u00a0Glamour: A World Problem<\/em>, pages 203 \u2013 205. \u00a0 At the time of the 3rd<\/sup> initiation the final battle between the pairs of opposites and the triumphant Angel occurs.\u00a0 The process followed by the disciple who is consciously working at the dissipation of glamour in his life can be divided into four stages: 1) the stage of recognition of the glamours which hide the Real (dependent in any one life by the ray of the personality).\u00a0 2) the stage of focusing the disciple’s consciousness upon the mental plane and the gathering of the light (so illumination is clear, the work to be done is plainly seen, and the searchlight of the mind is directed upon the glamour to be dissipated).\u00a0 3) the stage of direction (pouring light under intelligent direction into the dark places of the astral plane to dissipate the glamour and see the Real).\u00a0 4) the stage of identification with the Real as it is contacted after the dissipation of the glamour. This process of recognition, focusing, dissipation and consequent revelation goes on continually from the time a disciple treads the Path of Accepted Discipleship until the third initiation.\u00a0 The clue to success in this process is connected with meditation and the holding of the mind steady in the light. Only through steadiness can the beam of light be formed, intensified, focused and projected and then\u2014at the right moment\u2014withdrawn. \u00a0The meditation was on the glamor of personality.\u00a0\u00a0The orignal meeting was cancelled, but Michael did a private make-up session on December 17th, 2021.<\/p>\n

Dissipation of Glamour Initiative webinar 188, reading no. 124.\u00a0 The reading was from\u00a0Glamour: A World Problem<\/em>, pages 202 \u2013 204. \u00a0 Michael began with a review from his last reading about the power to use the light by a conscious use of the will, carrying energy upon the beam of projected light with a persistent and steady focus. This beam, thus projected, works exclusively and dynamically, much as a strong wind blows away or dissipates a dense fog; it acts also as a beam so the divine intention can enter (the new ideas and desired ideals can come in on the beam). Then he began discussing the new reading on the Dissipation of Individual Glamor and the mode that individual aspirants can succeed in dissipating the glamors which have for ages conditioned his life in the three worlds. He has been dominated by desire for four-fifths of his incarnated experience. He has begun to transmute his desire into aspiration and to seek realization; then he becomes aware of the appalling nature of the glamors he has been dealing with. Glamour arose when man recognized and registered desire as an incentive; it is the mind which reveals the existence of desire. The instinctual effort to satisfy desire innate in the lower nature gave place to planned efforts to meet desire, and this involved the directive use of the mind. Later, as evolution proceeded and desire shifted from one planned satisfaction to another, it began to take on a less physical aspect and men sought pleasure in emotional experience. This led to the establishment of the drama as its first artistic expression; by means of this, man has supplemented individual emotional and dramatic living with a vicarious submergence in it. From earliest Atlantean times the foundation was laid for the unfoldment of the sense of mystical duality through the various stages of recognition of the real in man himself, until finally we arrive at the proposition which faces the disciple and the Dweller on the Threshold confronts the Angel of the Presence and the last and major conflict is fought out.\u00a0 This dualistic consciousness culminates at the time of the third initiation in the final fight between the pairs of opposites and the triumphant victory of the Angel\u2014the embodiment of the Forces of Good in the individual, in the group and in humanity. Then dualism and the desire for that which is material and not oneself (as identified with the Whole) dies out. Unity and the “life more abundantly” is achieved.\u00a0 The meditation was on the glamor of personality.\u00a0\u00a0This meeting was held on December 3rd, 2021.<\/p>\n

Dissipation of Glamour Initiative webinar 187, reading no. 123.\u00a0 The reading was from\u00a0Glamour: A World Problem<\/em>, pages 201 \u2013 203. \u00a0 Michael began with a review from his last reading that temporary and illusory glamors must not be permitted to hide the Real, and reality will precipitate itself at the right moment once the higher light pours in.\u00a0 Groups working consciously at the service of dissipating glamor will have the following characteristics:\u00a0 they will be composed of sixth ray aspirants and disciples, aided by second ray spiritual workers; they will be formed of those learning to dissipate their own individual glamors, are focused on the mental plane with some measure of mental illumination who are mastering the Technique of Light; they are aware of the nature of the glamors which they are attempting to dissipate and can use the illumined mind as a searchlight.\u00a0 They include those who have are developing the following powers: the power to recognize the glamor and discriminate between the many types of glamor; the power to appropriate the light, absorbing it into themselves and then consciously and scientifically project it into the world of glamor; and the power to use the light by a conscious use of the will, carrying energy upon the beam of projected light with a persistent and steady focus. To this they add a persistent and steady focus. This beam, thus projected, has a twofold use: It works exclusively and dynamically, much as a strong wind blows away or dissipates a dense fog or as the rays of the sun dry up and absorb the mist. It acts also as a beam so the divine intention can enter (the new ideas and desired ideals can come in on the beam). The meditation was on the glamor of selfish desire.\u00a0\u00a0This meeting was held on November 12, 2021.<\/p>\n

Dissipation of Glamour Initiative webinar 185, reading no. 122.\u00a0 The reading was from Glamour: A World Problem<\/em>, pages 199 – 201. \u00a0 A review of last session reminds us that the work of dissipating glamour is carried forward by those who come into manifestation along the lines of energy embodied by the second, fourth and sixth rays.\u00a0 Michael reviewed the rays of DK\u2019s disciples and found that the majority of them had a Ray 2 Soul, a Ray 6 Personality, a Ray 4 Mental body, a Ray 6 Astral body, and a Ray 7 Physical body (although no disciple actually had that particular line up for their ray formula).\u00a0 Our own ray formula helps us keep focused on what aptitudes we should have, and also indicate the glamors that we may face through our particular ray makeup.\u00a0 DK pointed out that disciples frequently undertake tasks that they are not well suited for and whose rays may prevent them from accomplishing the task.\u00a0 This relates to man\u2019s consciousness and the glamor the man has created for himself.\u00a0 He only becomes aware of the reality once he has destroyed those forms which he has created.\u00a0 These forms fall into 2 categories.\u00a0 Those ancient forms that are the result of human activity, human thinking, and human error; these are the forms the individual aspirant has to dissipate before he can take the second initiation.\u00a0 The second category is those forms that are being constantly created and ceaselessly produced in response to the aspirational nature of humanity for personal or spiritual achievement; like the first category, these are temporary and illusory and must not be permitted to hide the Real. The second sentence relates to the astral plane and its all-encompassing glamours, which embody the unreal and present them to the prisoners of the astral plane, leading them to mistake them for the Reality. This imprisonment by glamour can be ended by the activity of the Technique of Light, used in group formation for the dissipation of glamour and for the emergence in the consciousness of men of a clear conception and recognition of the nature of Reality. This dissipation can be carried forward by disciples in all parts of the planet, aided by the world aspirants; it will, however, be primarily the work of those whose ray focus makes astral living the line of least resistance (primarily those with a ray 6 personality or astral vehicle), aided by aspirants and disciples upon the second and fourth rays.\u00a0 The work is instituted by the group formation of the ray six types, and when they have adopted the Technique of Light in service of the race, their work will be completed by second ray disciples. Of this higher experience, the active life of the three worlds is a distorted expression but constitutes also the training ground in which capacity to live the initiate life of intuitional perception and to serve the Plan is slowly developed. The rules for the Technique of Light have been adequately laid down in the Raja Yoga system of Patanjali, of which the five stages of Concentration (Leo), Meditation (Virgo), Contemplation (Libra), Illumination (Scorpio), and Inspiration (Sagittarius) are illustrative (Esoteric Astrology<\/em>, pages 228-229).\u00a0 These, in their turn, must be paralleled by a following of the Five Rules (Nijama) and the Five Commandments (Yama). I would ask you to study these (see Light of the Soul<\/em>, Book II, pages 184-190). These rules and commandments produce the psychic sensitivity of which hierarchical contact, illumination, service and discipline are descriptive. What concerns us is how this light is recognized, appropriated and used in order to dispel glamour. The esotericist knows that in every atom of his body is to be found a point of light; he knows the nature of the soul is light. For eons, he walks by the light within his vehicles (the light within the atomic substance of his body), guided by the light of matter. And the Technique of Indifference neutralizes the hold of sub-stance over the life or spirit, functioning in the 3 worlds, for soul is the evidence of life. And then Michael began his discussion about how students and aspirants who have made progress in soul contact have taken one of the first important steps towards the comprehension of light and its uses. However, they must be careful not to confuse the light which they can bring to bear on life, circumstance, events with that of \u00a0intuition. The light that expresses itself in the three worlds and reveals form concerns the soul light, the illuminating the mind and it brings about revelation of the world of forms in which that life is immersed. The intuition is not concerned with anything in the three worlds of human experience.\u00a0 Rather, it is only concerned with the perceptions of the Spiritual Triad and with the world of ideas. The intuition is to the world of meaning what the mind is to the three worlds of experience. Intuition produces understanding, just as the light of soul produces knowledge through the medium of experience. Each of these techniques is related to a new environment; each of them eventually develops power in the initiate or disciple which can be used in the service of humanity and in higher spheres of divine activity; each is related to the other techniques and releases the disciple into a conscious relationship with a new environment, new states of awareness and new fields of service. The Technique of the Presence enables the intuition to flow in and supersede the activity of the rational mind, dispelling illusion.\u00a0 The Technique of Light is the method of illumination from the soul (whose nature is light) and can irradiate not only ideals but life, circumstances and events, revealing the cause and the meaning of the experience. This section expands on the medium of Light and the ajna center as the projecting agent. The Keynote being: In that Light shall we see LIGHT.\u201d The stratum of light reveals a still greater Light in which we live. This progression of greater lights is necessary in order to become efficient cooperators with the Plan. The advancement from one light to the next higher Light takes the individual from the World of Phenomena to the World of Meaning, then the World of Significance, to the World of Being and into the World of Causes. This progression \u2013 these stages of advancement can be misunderstood as linear and separate when in fact there are no lines of demarcation and this cyclical development is merging and blending and fusing\u00a0\u00a0on a trajectory from the darkness of the 18 lower planes, to the soul plane, then into the Spiritual Triad, on to the Monadic realm and finally into the Logoic realm of Causes. The three stages outlined by the Tibetan delineate the three lights that are blended in the Technique of Light given later in the formulas for the Dissipation of Glamour: 1) Light of Knowledge 2) Light of\u00a0\u00a0Wisdom and 3) Light of Intuition. These put out the lesser lights. We are endeavoring to find the lighted center within ourselves and through a lengthy process make ourselves \u201csufficient\u201d to enter into the higher realms and serve the Plan. In looking at the horoscope the Sun Sign represents the light of the personality. The rising sign represents the light of the Soul and the point opposite the Sun Sign represents the light of the Monad. One reason lies in the fact that the last great spiritual revelation, given by the Christ, was given two thousand years ago, and the development of man’s mind and his responsiveness to truth has grown greatly since then. \u00a0Today, as humanity awaits the revelation which will embody the thoughts and dreams and constructive goal of the New Age, the demand comes for the first time from a large group of intuitively inclined people. \u00a0This group is now so large and its focus is now so real and its demand so loud that it is succeeding in focusing the massed intent of the people. Therefore, whatever revelation may emerge in the immediate future will be better “protected by the spirit of understanding” than any previous one. \u00a0The disciple and initiate work from above downwards; from a vantage point of exterior direction\u2014energy and forces are directed from the higher planes into the world of phenomena and produce definite effects upon the substance of the lower planes. There are wise and good men within the theological systems who spend their time in loving their fellowmen, and this they do because they love Christ and all for which He stands; they are not interested in building great churches and in gathering together the money needed for their support.\u00a0 Their focus is in gathering those who form the true Church upon the inner spiritual plane and in helping them to walk in the light; the illusion of power or superiority does not taint them. After the world crisis is over, Churchmen everywhere will not rest until they can discover how to penetrate through the illusion of doctrine and dogma which engulfs them, and find their way back to Christ and His simple message which has in it the power to save the world, if recognized and practiced.\u00a0 Much of the true revelation since the time of Christ has come to the world along the line of science. The presentation, for instance, of material substance (scientifically proven) as essentially only a form of energy was as great a revelation as any given by the Christ or the Buddha. It completely revolutionized men’s thinking and related energy to force, form to life, and man to God and held the secret of transformation, transmutation and transfiguration. He referenced a previously recorded set of commentaries to be found on makara: Angel of the Presence on Makara\u00a0https:\/\/www.makara.us\/portal\/?page_id=344<\/a>\u00a0and offered some comments. The Light is like a radiant sun representing the Angel of the Presence. This Light, a triple light, dispels illusion and can only be known through long preparation and meditation. The light brings something from the higher realms that is the result of the triple light of the Intuition focused on a problem revealing a significant expansion from a seed of truth already given. Michael offered the example of the breaking up of materialism that resulted from Einstein\u2019s tuning in and receiving some knowledge of time and space that descended as the ideas and theories of relativity – a great impersonal truth revealed to the race. Focusing on the soul, whose nature is LOVE, focus all that light within the heart center, seeing it as a radiant Sun. Scorpio rules illumination, which can be defined as the antithesis of glamour. Illusion imprisons one on the mental plane, barring out all that is higher\u2014love, mind, etc. The intuition is the source of revelation, providing understanding of the Divine Plan. We must recall what the intuition really is\u2014straight knowledge; it is not psychic apprehension or hunch. It has tremendous advantages if we can cultivate it. We are all trying to become souls in true expression through the personality. The first type of persons subject to revelation by intuition are on the line of the world saviors. Saturn rules the first decanate of Aquarius, which we are approaching. This prepares us for a lighter and brighter time. The \u201ccycle of necessity\u201d in the text\u00a0refers to Saturn. This presents a very dire method to achieve a very high goal. Brotherhood is waiting to precipitate under the triangle of Mercury (as the mind), Venus (as kama-manas), and the Earth (as physicality). Michael identified the Monad as the true realm of brotherhood at the moment, ruled by Jupiter, Neptune, Virgo and Pisces. One definition of \u201cideal\u201d is a \u201ctemporary expression of a basic idea\u201d. Because it is temporary, we must not cling to our present ideals, which are only partial understandings of truth. We have been given another definition of \u201cillusion\u201d: it is ideals, mental concepts, and formulated thoughtforms. Illusions must eventually disappear, and we will thereby grasp the relative value of the true and the false. People with partial vision energize thoughts which are partial in relation to the whole. The energies we pour into things strengthen the thoughtforms which are partial ideals. Consider evil as the good that should have been outlived. Illusion creates a barrier which is hard for the soul to come through. An ideal is only a means to an end, a springboard when its limitations are understood. There is a right time for an idea to manifest as an ideal. The immediate goal of humanity at this time is a renewed spiritual relationship through training in right human relations. The reading was from\u00a0Glamour: A World Problem<\/em>, page 131.\u00a0 Michael reviewed the fact that a mental illusion might be described as an idea, embodied in an ideal form, that then permits no scope for any other forms of the ideal.\u00a0 The person gets tied to the idealism and can\u2019t move beyond it.\u00a0 We work to combat this as we work to disperse maya, dissipate glamor, and dispel illusion.\u00a0 The Hierarchy is not subject to illusion, as they must be free from all incentive of illusion before they become members of the Hierarchy.\u00a0 The Seven Rays are the source of ideas, and thus the Hierarchy is open and receptive-free from illusion\u2014to the seven major groups of ideas that are the idea of God, expressed in a seven-fold manner for the need of humanity.\u00a0 We need all the rays and the ideas which those rays bestow, as each has a specific contribution to make. \u00a0They work in concert, each interrelated with the other six expressions of the same divine idea.\u00a0 There can be no narrowing down to just one idea, as can happen to man, being conditioned by his own soul or personality ray.\u00a0 Few idealists are personally in touch with an idea given to them; they are only in touch with the human interpretation of the idea as formulated by a disciple or intuitive.\u00a0 An illusion can, therefore, be defined as the consequence of an idea (translated into ideal) being regarded as the complete story, rather than part of a wider presentation. When visioned and grasped in a narrow perspective like this, it creates a distortion of the truth. Michael also fielded questions that identified the 7 Laws of the Soul as outlined in Esoteric Psychology, Vol II, beginning on page 85; and the 6 laws and principles outlined in Discipleship in the New Age, Vol II, pages 237-239. In the case of illusion and intuition we must remember that intuition dispels. We are warned not to bring too much soul energy into the glamour work, rather to use the light of the fifth ray, dissipating through mentality. Maya \u2013 a chaotic emotional mess – calls for dispersion with the order of Inspiration by using an organized approach to the physical plane. The contrast of the Dweller and the Presence, a projection of the Solar Angel into the higher causal body as the Angel of the Presence introducing us to the monad suggests there is a fifth initiation process that involves the Dweller, the Angel of the Presence and the Solar Angel. These contrasts embody the traps dominating our functioning \u2013 and must be overcome. DK moves into a deeper discussion of each contrast. Illusory thoughts produce a limitation and the Intuition can be used to liberate us from inherited ideas and ideologies that limit progress with powerful conditioning of tradition and background. Modern ideas especially in Europe with a combination of the 5th<\/sup>\u00a0and 6th<\/sup> rays makes the lower mind more rigid and reactive and these modern ideas are then interpreted through tradition, national \u201cpredispositions\u201d that short-circuit the higher interpretations of symbolic higher ideas. Many people, though intelligent in a concrete manner, are still operating in the Hall of Ignorance. We are limited in our interpretations of what are dimly sensed new ideas, the Raincloud of Knowable Things, and must learn to react correctly and not be swayed by surrounding influences and field of service. Three influences, past, present and future, limit us in contacting the world of ideas, and mental illusion ties, limits and imprisons the man proving to be a disastrous conditioning factor. The objective is understanding the great task ahead as Scorpio rules and leads to the Capricorn phase in which one goes through the pain and sacrifice, the privation in resolving the pairs of opposites. The personality and soul integrate and the Presence as a projection of the Monad lasts through all the stages of development from accepted disciple through Master. If we want to overcome that dualism it takes time being solved by understanding the principle of Oneness. The disciple is like the god, Janus, who can look in two directions at the same time looking down at the personality and at the soul. DK differentiates between the control of form, matter, versus the control of substance, which is etheric. The key is Contemplation which is Libran, and Identification, the highest form ending in the sign Pisces. We must overcome duality without negating its mayavic presence. Its form is not real. We also learn that DK uses the term disciple as quite flexible and that term can be followed up the higher levels: the Solar Angel is a disciple; the Christ is a disciple, and on it goes. For our purposes we will consider disciple in those stages up to the 5th<\/sup>\u00a0Initiation. We must fulfill all the requirements along the way. We receive greater and greater training and will, if we persist, act as the \u2018capstone of that hierarchy\u2019 created. Michael noted that both the Tibetan and Alice Bailey have a \u2018horror\u2019 of glamour. What are the subsidiary causes? a. The planetary material bias and materialistic fixation on the personality as if it were the primary focus. b. The glamour initiated by humanity as a whole at the beginning of the Atlantean period and aggravated by the incoming Moon Chain monads and the members of the Black Lodge 12 million years ago. c. The glamour of the individual not yet mentally polarized that are started in this life. Not many of the Tibetan\u2019s students had reached the point of mental polarization. Materialism is such a superficial way of looking at life, believing that inner states of consciousness are the result of matter. Illusion, glamour and maya are differentiated with these results defined: conquering of illusion, dissipation of glamour and mastering of maya. Not everyone treads the Path of Initiation. Many hardships, challenges and exertions are required. Dissipation of Glamour Initiative webinar 132, reading no. 72.\u00a0 The reading was from\u00a0Glamour: A World Problem<\/em>, page 123-124.\u00a0 Glamors, Master DK tells us, are legion.\u00a0 Several of his disciples were struggling with glamor, some left the group, failing for personality reasons (lacking group realization and were occupied with themselves).\u00a0 The major task of the glamor group was to dissipate some of the universal glamor through united meditation.\u00a0 The disciples went through the following stages as their mind developed intuitively: \u00a0the idea (based on intuitive perception), the ideal (based on mental formulation and distribution), the idol ( based on the concretizing tendency of physical manifestation.\u00a0 From Glamour: A World Problem<\/em> page 205, Michael discussed that the Path of Evolution is in fact the path of recognitions, leading to revelation. \u00a0This process of recognition, focusing, dissipation and consequent revelation goes on continually from the time a disciple treads the Path of Accepted Discipleship until the third initiation.\u00a0 The clue all success in this process is, therefore, connected with meditation and the holding of the mind steady in the light. \u00a0These lights are varied (the light of matter itself, found in every atom of substance, the light of the vital or etheric vehicle – a light which is the reflection of the One Light, the light of the instinct, the light of the intellect or the light of knowledge, the light of the soul, the light of the intuition).\u00a0 From light to light we pass, from revelation to revelation until we pass out of the realm of light into the realm of life which is, as yet to us, pure darkness.\u00a0 It will be obvious to you that this increasing light – unfolds before the eyes – first of all the world of forms, then the world of ideals, then the nature of the soul, of ideas and of divinity.\u00a0 In today’s world we see minds coming together to focus upon world problems, different disciplines sharing their insight. Mars and Neptune, as the sixth ray planets, need to be kept in mind as the 6th ray glamours are reviewed. Neptune is higher than Mars, is a sacred, synthesizing planet but can cause confusion and misguided idealism. The number 15 is also very important as we consider the 6th\u00a0<\/sup>Ray. Esoteric Psychology page 26 in Volume One concerns the rays and cycles, and provides the idea of 150 year cycles as part of the larger cycle of 1500 years. The fading of the 6th\u00a0<\/sup>ray presents negativity, fanaticism and sentimental response to old forms, a backward looking tendency. Mars is involved appearing as militarism and making trouble with groups. Suspicion of motives is noted as the early expression of the 6th<\/sup>ray. Rapid reaction and confused idealism also reflect the Martian quality. Dreaminess, impracticality, longing for heaven, intense capacity to be personal, all speak to the Neptunian qualities of the 6th\u00a0<\/sup>Ray. Libra with the middle way and the 6th\u00a0<\/sup>ray can be dedicated to the peace movement for the good of the whole. The current global issue of climate change and the young leaders emerging with passion and idealism were discussed in relation to the positive aspects of the 6th<\/sup>ray, connected to the will and intentness of the 6th<\/sup>and 1st<\/sup>rays. Those with rapport on the emotional plane and the ability to work on that plane with 5th\u00a0<\/sup>ray, are able to dissipate glamour with their added commitment and vision of the truth of the 6th\u00a0<\/sup>ray. As part of the discussion of the Ray 6 glamours, Michael referred again briefly to the section from Esoteric Psychology Volume II on page 38: the \u201cBlessed One\u201d stanza for Ray 6. In this webinar Michael goes back through more of the Ray II glamours that had not been covered. In Esoteric PsychologyVolume II the subordination of all soul powers is mentioned on pages 40-41. Michael described in context, the ‘unholy mixture’ of thinking and feeling or kama-manas which to overcome requires abstraction and strong mental focusing not yet mental polarization. This occurs some time between the 2ndand the 3rdinitiations. Some second ray types are separative. Glamour of too complete an understanding, in the search for a vast understanding and not apply it due to a fear of impact which relates to inaction, sets up a karmic condition. There is a lot of suffering on the second ray, agonizing to the goal and eventually dissipating the glamour of self-pity. The realization of true identity liberates one from self-pity. The directives on page 660 of DINA-II are the remedy to glamour through the acquisition of the 11 qualities given with the 12th being the synthesis of the eleven. The Ray III glamors given are that of being busy, cooperation with the Plan in an individual rather than group way, active scheming, creative work without true motive, good\u2014but selfish\u2014intentions, the spider at the center, God in the machine, devious and continuous manipulation, and the glamor of self-importance. Ray III is an acute ray of Divine mental perception; it creates a problem for us, however, because it can accomplish its purpose without higher direction from the soul, so it can lead into retrogression until we have brought the generic Ray III personality into alignment with the generic Ray II Soul. These lists of glamors we are studying can help us determine or refine our rayological profiles when we resonate with the glamors for a certain ray. What are our pet peeves? Examining them might also help us hone in on our ray glamors. Also, in Esoteric Psychology, Vol II, pages 231-256 the trends are given for the Egoic Rays (tendency to synthesize, quality of hidden vision, urge to formulate a plan, urge to creative life, the factor of analysis, the quality to idealize, and the interplay of the great dualities). Ray III can be very manipulative, but for higher purposes, it has to have a heart (like we see with many prominent philanthropists in the world). Whatever distorts the apprehension of reality, and which involves our desire nature, is what we can call a glamour. It largely has to do with the kama and manas together, and the inability to distinguish them separately. We have to move through this until we maintain the mind steady in the light, which is not such an easy thing to do. Michael briefly reviewed the first ray glamours, so often a problem of centralization and the misuse of power to emphasize the individual. Today\u2019s reading was on the second ray glamours, initially providing an overview of all those listed. There is not a hard and fast line between the glamours that are causing difficulties. Everything that draws attention to the personality, and emphasizes it at the expense of the real soul will lead to glamourous difficulty. Michael presented information from EPII, page 40, regarding how we go from the initial misuse of power to something that is much more in keeping with the Plan. The focus then turned to a more detailed understanding of the ray two glamours of the love of being loved, of popularity, of personal wisdom, and of selfish responsibility. We misunderstand what the energies are meant to do. The Science of the Rays, of Esoteric Astrology, of the Centers of Force, and the new Esoteric Psychology, all form the Science of the Psychological Influences. Each of these lines of study are yet in their infancy. This reading concerns the glamours of the first ray as named by the Tibetan. These glamours may display from the soul, personality, or mental levels based on one\u2019s rayological structure. These tendencies may carry over from prior incarnation(s), astrologically, or the environment\/nation of birth. Michael stated that the Tibetan generally considers glamour as anything that inhibits the disciples\u2019 contact and understanding with reality, including maya and illusion. There is a problem when the little self (personality) takes precedence over its field of consciousness. Michael briefly reviewed the five types of force through which we produce glamours. One\u2019s ray quality determines the type of glamours to which one succumbs (ambient glamour) as well as those we most easily create. We must learn to distinguish between those glamours already existing to which one is attracted, and those which we create in using the bodies that are colored by ray qualities. Astrological energies may also play a part. The problem is complicated because the energies of the soul, personality, mind, emotions, and physical vehicles all contribute. One of the first steps in understanding the nature of our problems, and of our release from those problems, is learning our ray structure. The soul and personality rays are probably the major sources of our glamours. When one has hypothesized his\/her ray structure, then one must consider the state of one\u2019s glandular system, one\u2019s point in evolution upon the Path, the points of cleavage in the personality which exist (within the physical\/etheric, emotional, and mental bodies, or between any of them), and understanding one\u2019s Path of Life through astrological indications (not compulsions). As Master D.K. tells us: \u201dOnly one clear fact remains and that is the fact of the Soul, of the immortal Identify, the Warrior behind the scenes, the Charioteer, Krishna, the Christ within. The Bhagavad Gita can be read entirely from the standpoint of the disciple\u2019s combat with glamor and students would be well-advised so to study it.\u201d Then Michael began a discussion on the 5 types of force that produce glamor within the man, initiated by the man himself. The forces of the dense physical nature produce a condition of maya or uncontrolled energy. The astral nature forces are the pairs of opposites that must be balanced; disciples are usually polarized in the astral body and subject to glamor due to the interplay of the opposites. The forces of the lower mental nature is colored by past activity, adding illusion to the states of maya and glamor of the physical and astral natures. The personality emerges and intensifies the other 3, eventually resulting in a synthesis, yet still subject to a more potent form of glamor. This problem of consciousness creates our wrong perception and interpretation, leading to the misidentification whereby we are engulfed, deluded and imprisoned until we recognize the situation. Our emotions support unrealities. We are the story of the Prodigal Son. We then proceeded into the stages of extricating ourselves from glamour. The first stage occurs when the material world is recognized and realized\u2014the glamour of materialism. This stage has two parts: first is the satisfaction of the physical instincts of the individualized man; and second concerns the pleasures of material possessions. Completing the Section: Dweller on the Threshold the webinar began with a review of the most common rays for the physical, astral and mental vehicles found in humanity at this time, noting those exceptions found for a few of Master DK\u2019s disciples in DINA Volumes I and II and some of the reasons DK noted the exceptions for particular disciples. If your rays are different from those noted as most common, then you may be an accepted disciple. Accepted discipleship is attained when you have a direct contact with the master. How has this been revealed? The group then considered a set of questions on page 93 each considered silently and followed by Michael\u2019s comments: 1) When the intuition is developed, the impact or \u201cstraight knowledge\u201d is seen and all is locked into step establishing a unity of all factors which dawns upon the consciousness. 2) Working with the Technique of Light reveals the glamours that are hiding the Light. The beam of Light eventually becomes the horn of the Unicorn. 3) The veils of the etheric plane are the forces or impulsions driving the human being until he can control the energies. Inspiration is a rhythmic breathing of divinity, breathing in the higher energies and releasing them, the rhythm works in cycles and impulses that are regulated. The 7th ray rhythmic breathing is very important in our efforts to not succumb to the chaos of maya. The rhythmic and ordered life helps restore our own energy system rather than being driven by chaotic impulse. The group continued with consideration of a new section – Causes of Glamour, Section Two: The racial and individual causes of glamour. Familiarity leads to the inability to see the distortions in which we are living for both maya and illusion as well as glamour. Illusions, misunderstandings and misinterpretations continue until emotional unity is achieved on the way to the experience of Oneness which is found in monadic awareness. The discontinuity, disillusionment, distortions are dispelled through the use of the intuition. Unsentimental love \/ Love-wisdom prevents the appearance of distortions and disillusionment. As occultists in training with detachment, we overcome illusions and actually achieve Disillusionment as Master DK uses the term, as the key to the release from glamour. The fundamental cause of glamour is the sense of duality. Unity is achieved in contemplation and the heart centre is involved, allowing the fusion of the subject and the object. Oneness goes even deeper though. Yet words are used loosely and we must take care not to further our misunderstandings. We on this planet are adjudicators; we always must reconcile the dualities, the great mistake of misperception, through contemplative meditation. Our very perceptions are rooted in our dweller in the body, in duality, incorrectly perceiving, wrongly seeing the phenomena that engulf and delude, causing restlessness and unhappiness. Do we actually know this experientially? Self-knowledge is the first step and leads us through a long period of untangling before glamour can be overcome. The number 108 is significant in several ways. Not all of us are currently fighting with the real Dweller, as it is faced by the third degree initiate. There are several very good definitions provided for this aspect of our evolving Self. The Dweller is everything we are before real illumination, inspiration, and initiation (soul infusion), and is extremely potent. From the form side, the Dweller on the Threshold embodies many good and useful things, when properly directed. We are learning to subordinate the Third Aspect to the Second Aspect of divinity. We are just at the stage or recognizing what is the dweller in our nature, so that we can strive to resolve the pairs of opposites on the physical, emotional, and mental planes. In World War I, the conflict that was fought concerned the physical\/etheric nature, and was a tremendous test and discipline. Due to this conflict, many humans entered the Probationary Path. It brought out discipline, aspiration, and a higher sense of values. Something of the fifth kingdom of nature was coming through. The effects were important in devitalizing the world maya. Interestingly, wars have been expiating (releasing and then negating) experiences for humanity. Focusing on physical disciplines and training is related to this Path, as is purification. One of the first steps in handling maya is physical coordination which, as a \u201cright activity\u201d on the Path of Return, also includes astral orientation, mental direction, and personality alignment. The glamour of egotism is one of the most difficult and is based on mistaken identity, and a mistaken self-glorification. Maya is largely an etheric condition in a battle of the pairs of opposites. There are many levels of these pairs of opposites. Michael showed, on the chart of the Egoic Lotus and the Centers, how pairs of opposites may be observed. The Tibetan considers the etheric body as the true physical, while the dense body is an automaton. Latent impulses of the personality life (not under soul control) are blended with pranic fluids, becoming potent streams of force emerging through the chakras into manifestation. We draw in the general environing prana until there is definite direction and higher control. Note that there are five types of prana. Etheric energy passes through two stages prior to the period of discipleship. Stage One blends the latent force of matter with etheric energy through physical discipline. Stage Two is the battle of the lower pairs of opposites, as one reorients towards higher values, expresses as the conflict between the vital force and the dense physical body, and is fought out in the astral nature. We can learn the nature of these glamours by studying the three temptations faced by Jesus (or the Christ): the world, the flesh, and the devil. The glamours are all based on misidentification with the form, and are displayed through a number of self-expressions. We are reminded that suspicion, self-pity, and criticism (that dire producer of misery) are major causes of glamour. The battles that disciples face are primarily of glamour. Illumination can be achieved through Raja Yoga. With this light and vision, the fogs and miasmas of glamour is dissipated. We must remember that \u201cglamour is not dissipated through the means of the intuition nor is illusion overcome by the use of the illumined mind\u201d. This reading focused on the fourth of five glamours holding humanity in prison\u2014that of the pairs of opposites. The reference to the \u201cmiddle way\u201d is to the vertical path (Libra) which is always rising as the point of tension continues to rise. The astral body is prominent due to our living in an astral-buddhic solar system, and so affects all. As we travel along this path, we must realize that our emotional \u201cups and downs\u201d are not of the soul at all. On the \u201cmystical path\u201d, one may be held by this particular glamour for many years, or even lives. When speaking of the \u201cpolarized mind\u201d, it relates to a period between the second and third degrees. It is also important to realize that the triplicity of the three aspects of divinity\u2014spirit, soul, and body\u2014are all equally divine, all the product of BEING. The focus of this reading was on the third of five glamours holding humanity in prison\u2014that of devotion<\/strong>. This is especially powerful in the lives of probationary disciples and those with Ray 6 souls, personalities, or emotional natures. This is due to the long Ray 6 cycle now completing, as well as the ending Piscean cycles\u2014a double reinforcement. We are told to ponder on our devotion to causes, teachers, creeds, persons, duties, and\/or responsibilities. It becomes harmful when it swings one into the rhythm of the world glamour, which is a fog of desire (which initially may appear quite beautiful). This type of devotional glamour can be particularly difficult, commencing a long imprisonment. One way to overcome this glamour is by contacting the greater Self through the higher Self, thus losing sight of the lower self. The meditation itself was on the glamour of devotion. Through sentiment, one seeks comfort in the interior life. Few there are that truly know the nature of love, particularly in family relationships. Affection is an astral reaction and not love. One definition for love is \u201cthe spontaneous desirelessness of the soul which asks nothing for the separated self\u201d. The true lover must be very alert to the needs<\/u> of the other. We must also keep in mind that not all types of possessions suit all people, as this relates to one\u2019s place on the evolutionary ladder. The second concerns the fog enveloping humanity is a definite substantial thing, although the astral forms created are less clearly defined than those created in mental substance. Generally undetectable by most people, the astral forms are described as smothering, vague, enveloping, submerging and swaying. The third recognition is that the great energetic potency of glamour is due to a) it\u2019s an ancient rhythm inherent in astral substance that has been created by human desire; b) it\u2019s part of the human energy system that is part of life processes; c) it is Atlantean in nature and consciousness, being highly developed during that period, and can only be dissipated by the fifth root-race through the technique of 1) standing in spiritual being and 2) keeping the mind steady in the light. The fourth recognition is that the major glamours holding humanity in the prison of form are those of materiality, sentiment, devotion, the pairs of opposites, and the Path. Contemplation dispels illusion as we slip into the soul\u2019s meditation. There are three major divisions of the meditation process to address the distortions of reality: concentration by the Aspirant relates to devitalizing maya (ruled by Leo), meditation by the Disciple relates to dissipating glamour (ruled by Virgo), and contemplation by the Initiate relates to dispelling illusion (ruled by Libra). The state of contemplation is largely unreachable for most of us. Libra is the sign of humility (an adjusted sense of right proportion) and contemplation. Our major problem is glamour rather than illusion. As we develop our minds, we must distinguish between mental focus and mental polarization. To be most effective in our work of helping humanity, we must carefully assess our motives \u2013 are they for the separated personality, or for the larger group \u2013 humanity itself. Michael stated that we are not entirely free from glamour and illusion until we take the 9th<\/sup> initiation and are free of the cosmic physical plane. Following a brief alignment, Michael discussed how the intuition is increasingly necessary in the dispelling of illusion. It is the intuition that dispels illusion (Technique of the Presence), the illumined mind that dissipates glamour (Technique of Light), and the right use of the breath that devitalizes maya (Technique of Indifference). The concrete mind is not enough to do this work. This indicates the need for building the antahkarana in order to access the intuition. Note how the transcendental mind, being the intuition (or pure realization), is governed by the higher part of Mercury. Michael discussed the relationships between Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The opposite pole of illusion is the intuition \u2013 the recognition of reality that becomes possible as glamour and illusion disappear. The mind reflects the soul on the higher mental plane and the astral body reflects the intuition on the buddhic plane. We bring in buddhic impression through the use of Raja Yoga, stillness, and non-activity of the mind in a way that will reveal something closer to pure truth. Michael discussed the 4th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> ways that illusion demonstrates, through wrong direction of ideas (introducing an idea into a context in which it does not belong) and wrong integration of an idea (contacting ideas that do not integrate into our personal field of service). In the first case, there might be some value to the ideas, but when they are misapplied, presented incorrectly or in the wrong context, illusion is strengthened.\u00a0 The cause is a small and non-inclusive mind, and its cure is the training of the mind to be inclusive, well-stocked and well-developed. \u00a0In the second case, overzealousness and over-activity of the mind cause the person to seize upon an idea and try and work with, even if they don\u2019t have the aptitude or understanding to do so.\u00a0 Not all ideas contacted will fit in with the person\u2019s field of service, and they need to discern which are appropriate and which are not.\u00a0 Many good disciples demonstrate this over-zealousness and end up with no constructive objectives because they reach for too many that are inappropriate for their designated work and cannot be integrated into their life program.\u00a0 This is illusion through acquisitiveness and its cause is selfishly grasping for the little self; the cure is a humble spirit. \u00a0The meditation itself was on the glamour of lying and everything that prevents truth from manifesting. All the problems of the world consist in the words \u201cme\u201d and \u201cmine\u201d. Taking ownership of ideas is an unjustified action of the personality. The \u201cmy\u201d part becomes more important than the idea itself. This lower Leo phase of development needs the corrective action of Libra. The cause of this illusion is an over-estimation of personality upon the sensed idea and undue impress of personality reactions upon the sensed idea and upon all who attempt to contact the same idea. The cure for this illusion is a steady attempt to decentralize the life from the personality, and to center it in the soul which is non-possessive and group conscious. Consider the effects in one\u2019s life of discipline, dispassion, discrimination, decentralization, detachment, and discernment. This was followed by a general summary of the first three ways in which illusion usually demonstrates. Intuition is also called the \u201ctranscendental mind\u201d. Readings from “Glamour: A World Problem” pages 59-60. \u00a0Michael began reviewing the first illusion, wrong perception of an idea and reiterating the great heresy of separateness, or the inability to perceive the unity of things.\u00a0 A separative consciousness does not act in the interest of the whole.\u00a0 Then he began discussing the second of the seven ways that illusion demonstrates:\u00a0 wrong interpretation of a presented idea. \u00a0When our mental equipment is inadequate, and we are not able to hold the mind steady in the Light of the Soul, we receive only partial views of reality. The cause of this illusion is the over-estimation of one\u2019s mental powers, resulting in a prideful attitude toward one\u2019s mind. This condition may be especially prominent in ray types three and five. The cure for this illusion is developing a cautious spirit; Saturn and Ray 3 are helpful,\u00a0 with true humility, balance, and an adjusted sense of right proportion. \u00a0We paused in meditation to consider our own status, to reflect on whether we indulged in overinflated mental pride (or undervalued one) and whether or not we were developing that cautious spirit.\u00a0 He pointed out that the humble spirit expressed itself in our ability to talk to others and help them understand esoteric concepts.\u00a0 Michael also pointed out the list of virtues and vices of the rays found in Esoteric Psychology Vol I beginning on page 200.\u00a0 Then he answered several questions, including one on how to distinguish between an idea, a law, and a principle.\u00a0 A Law is always true and is a formulated, sustained will of a great being; the law protects the archetype of the being.\u00a0 A principle is an aspect of that being; A Treatise on Cosmic Fire, beginning on p259 lists all the principles from different levels of consciousness and explains the different ways of looking at these principles depending on our conscious status or point of view.\u00a0 Another question was on the distinction between an idea, ideal, and thoughtform.\u00a0 Ideas are archetypes that need to be manifested on the lower planes, and they come from the buddhic plane or higher.\u00a0 Ideals are formed in the concrete mind and astral vehicle, and they give form to the perceived idea.\u00a0 Thoughtforms are forms, but are abstract, leaving out the details, and are formed on the higher mental plane, so they still need to be brought down into the concrete mind and the 18 lower sub-planes.\u00a0 In other words, the intuition perceives the idea, clothes it in abstract thought, and then in concrete form.\u00a0 The meditation was on the glamor of the personality and things that prevent true perception of reality, like self-importance.\u00a0 The webinar was led by Michael D. Michael began discussing Illusion (glamor on the mental plane).\u00a0 We don\u2019t meet illusion (and can\u2019t therefore overcome it) until we become the thinker.\u00a0 The man must be focused consciously on the mental plane (generally, people are not yet mentally focused); working with intelligent, heart-felt service; able to make soul alignment easily; and have taken the first initiation, when it becomes possible for the mind to be held steadily in the Light.\u00a0 True ideas come forth from the Buddhic plane, formless impressions until the higher mind interprets them and clothes them in mental substance.\u00a0 This is where distortion comes in, especially for beginners, and ideas are misinterpreted as they are processed from the soul to the brain.\u00a0 They can be built with inferior material from an inadequate mind, or colored through the ray types of the vehicles of expression (soul, mental, or physical brain), creating illusion and distortion of the pure idea by the qualifying equipment of the interpreter.\u00a0 DK tells us that illusion, for our purposes, can be understood to signify the reaction of the undisciplined mind to the newly contacted world of ideas.\u00a0 The mind of man becomes aware of this new and undiscovered world of ideas and he seizes upon some idea and tries to make it his own.\u00a0\u00a0 But his mind is still self-centered and the contact feeble, so the ideas are only dimly sensed.\u00a0 Thinking the experience is unique or that he\u2019s contacted a great idea leads him further into illusion, when all he\u2019s gotten is a small fragment of a much greater idea.\u00a0 So what he attempts to materialize is inaccurate and unsuitable.\u00a0 Many factors contribute to this problem including the point in evolution of the man (i.e., imperfect integration of the personality, indefiniteness of the thoughtform, wrong material attracted for building the thoughtform, a shifting focus due to the dimness of the ideal, and an unstable relationship between the senses idea and the mind).\u00a0 The meditation was on the glamor of the personality.\u00a0 The webinar was led by Michael D. Michael led us through a discussion of the glamour of authority and the illusion of power. The illusion of power is generally a mental condition and a misperception or \u201cgreat mistake\u201d, but it can descend to the astral plane becoming blinding. We must be aware of our susceptibility to these conditions, as it is rare for any disciple to escape the effects of these errors. Success and right motive can actually attract this false sense of power. When we begin to sense soul contact, through meditation, good intentions, and right techniques, our inner powers begin to express. Integration is power. Our personalities strive to claim these inner powers for themselves, and we can lose all sense of proportion, expressing spiritual self-importance. The personality can \u201cspoil\u201d the service and light of the soul. Those having taken the first and second initiations are especially prone to these glamours. Michael suggested that we all search within ourselves for these particular glamours, asking if we have succeeded in being clear channels for expressing light and love. We must remember that the Pilgrim referenced in these rules is our true SELF, the Monad as the Soul in incarnation traveling this path. Interpretations were provided of the symbols of Rule IV concerning wearing a hood, carrying a water pot, and carrying a staff without a crook; we need to be open and honest with our fellow travelers along the path, be willing to share, and when needed become the Good Shepherd with those who might lose their way.\u00a0 Symbols of Rule V include the pot of fire, the lamp, the purse of gold, and the sealed vase; they represent solar fire, fellowship and kindness and that of setting an example by letting others see into our vulnerabilities and true heart.\u00a0 The sealed vase is for our aspirations, and Michael reminded us of the four ancient veils (that of impulsion, distortion, separation, and aspiration) as described in Rays and Initiations page 196.\u00a0 Symbols of Rule VI were the open ear (truly listen), the giving hand (service is never a delay in our own path), the silent tongue (gossip and criticism have no place in group work), the chastened heart (only the soul desires count and the more soul-centered we are the less we attract any unwanted lower desires), the golden voice (words of the soul and speaking to restore people to their soul), the rapid foot (being alert and ready to go where the Hierarchy needs us), and the open eye (the light of the soul). \u00a0It ends with he knows he is not alone because soul work is group work and that involves group travel, group initiation, and group consciousness.\u00a0 Michael again suggested the importance of not only memorizing these rules, but of making each of them a part of our daily life. Reading was from \u201cGlamour: A World Problem\u201d pages\u00a048-50.\u00a0 Michael discussed entering into group work and the group rhythm that obeys the laws of the spiritual realm.\u00a0 There is a set rule of interplay, of travel, of group recognition and work of the New Group of World Servers, and as we learn to work within this, like with Full Moon or New Moon meditations, the techniques penetrate our consciousness and we automatically begin to obey the higher rhythm, eventually entering the silent places where the Masters dwell within the cosmic ethers and the realm of the Spiritual Triad.\u00a0 Along this road, we revolt from the control and fall back into the glamor of needing freedom, but while we may gain freedom from the control of the personality we must recognize there is never any freedom from the Law of Service.\u00a0 To stand really free is to stand in the unimpeded light of the soul, and that is intrinsically group consciousness.\u00a0 From the time we can focus on the higher mental plane, group consciousness takes over, giving way eventually to the Consciousness of the Oneness.\u00a0 Michael pointed out what it says in Rays and Initiations<\/em>, p685-686 about looking at the initiations from the angle of liberation and attainment of freedom (freedom from control of the physical body at the 1st<\/sup> Initiation, freedom from control of the emotional nature at the 2nd<\/sup> Initiation, freedom from the 3-fold personality at the 3rd<\/sup> Initiation, etc.).\u00a0 DK reminds us that when we are beset by uncertainty and a desire to walk free, that we need to make sure we aren\u2019t submitting to the glamor to be freed from our group impacts.\u00a0 Does our own interior satisfaction, he asks us, warrant sacrificing the group integrity? \u00a0Michael pointed out the 4 factors of occult obedience from A Treatise on White Magic<\/em>, p583 (enquire the way, obey the inward impulses of the soul, pay no attention to any worldly consideration, and live a life which is an example to others). Kama-manas, or desire-mind, is rampant in the world today, resulting in the glamours of lying and misrepresentation. This mass glamour of authority is giving rise to Nazism and other forms of totalitarianism as ideals, for which it is essential that we avoid. The greatest sources of glamour are self-pity, criticism, suspicion, and especially FEAR. Illusion can be like a wall-builder of separativeness, preventing us from seeing the reality of unity and oneness in the diversity of manifestation. We must guard against falling under the spell of the false teacher (Busiris in the Gemini myth in the Labors of Hercules) that would control our thoughts and emotions. We accomplish this through a blend of self-reliance and group work. Note that even the soul ray can be distorted by the personality. Other people with a more average mental development succumb to general illusion of a mass nature. These sharply indicated thoughtforms mingle with similar thoughtforms, and become channels for drawing more powerful thoughtforms. Examples of this are ancient theologies in modern garb, fixed presentations of half-truths, and exaggerated thinking of various world groups\u2014all of which contribute to wrong concepts and thoughts. What is needed instead is people who are independent thinkers who train themselves in mental attitudes, receptivity, and response. They need to be the observer, the Soul, and it is their responsibility to become mediating interpreters of right ideas. They must dissolve, shatter, and transform illusion to limit these dogmatic thoughtforms and prepare the heart and mind for the reappearance of the Christ. He noted each individual is responsible for addressing these problems and must learn to deal with them as an individual and as a group. Michael emphasized the importance of the 5th Ray and certain planetary influences, Venus and Mercury, in dealing with glamour.
