  6.   Fixed Cross

7.   Transmits R4 constellationally

  7.   Transmits R5 constellationally. Secondary and subtle transmissions of R3 and R1 are possible.

8.   Secondarily,(assuredly, but not exclusively), Taurus transmits R5 and R1 through Venus and Vulcan—its two planetary rulers on three levels—exoteric, esoteric and hierarchical.

  8.   Secondarily, (assuredly, but not exclusively) Aquarius transmits R7, R2 and R4 (with R1, R6, and R7), through Uranus, Jupiter and the Moon, veiling Vulcan, Neptune and Uranus—all these are its planetary rulers on three levels—exoteric, esoteric and hierarchical.

9.   Color: deep blue

  9.   Color: turquoise

10.   Creative Hierarchy number III (unmanifested), characterized by “Light thro’ Knowledge”

  10.   Creative Hierarchy number XII (manifested) and XII of the twelve. Elemental Lives; the Baskets of Nourishment; the Blinded Lives

11.   Associated with the de-glamorizing second initiation and the ‘ego-shattering’, shroud-splitting, intuition-invoking (EA 205-206) fourth initiation. The blinding light of the third initiation and the Vulcanian destruction of the first also suggest a Taurean relationship to these degrees. There is, as well, a possible relationship with the revelatory fifth—revelation in the blazing “light of day” (cf. R&I 644)

  11.   Association with refuse-flushing, fire-cleansing, fellowship-inducing second initiation; the ego-negating, light-pervading, soul-inspiring third initiation; the personality-renouncing, life-energizing fourth initiation; and, conceivably, with the abundant life of the beneficently organizing fifth degree.

12.  Associated with the form-building throat center and the form-envisioning and registering ajna center. A sacral center connection is also reasonable, as Taurus is one of the major signs of sex, and is related to the tangibility of the physical form—created through the instrumentality of the sacral center. As Vulcan is associated with the “heart of the sun” (the correspondence of which is the heart within the head) Taurus must be correlated, as it must with the solar plexus, because “aspirational idealism in its highest possible expression is also achieved in Taurus” (EA 391), and the solar plexus is the center of aspiration. For completion, fourth ray Taurus, is numerically related to the four-petalled base center and the heart chakra—the fourth!

12.  Aquarius can be reasonably associated with the entire abundantly-radiating, synthetic crown center, and the united radiation of the chakra centers as a whole. When the ajna center responds to the universal mind, the envisioning of the archetypally-destined future appears. Aquarius transmits the third ray, and thus relates to the throat center (through ruling Saturn, Uranus and Vulcan as well). Aquarius, is esoterically ruled by Jupiter, the planet controlling the group-inclusive heart center. The evolving Aquarian is subject to many emotional highs and lows, thus connecting Aquarius to the solar plexus center. (EA 141-142) Also, through Uranus, with the form-creating sacral center which generates “waters of life” in a more material sense. As well, seventh-ray Uranus is numerically related to the seventh or basal center, bringing Aquarius into the relation.

13.  The zodiacal signs influence the Monad of every human being (EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Taurus endows it with a portion of the “Greatest Light” which is resident within Shamballa—the place of unfettered enlightenment. Taurus endows the Monad with its inherent omniscience relative to the human energy system

  13.   The zodiacal signs influence the Monad of every human being (EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Aquarius governs the large monadic groups or ‘monadic ashrams’, which aggregations exist upon the monadic plane. The universal awareness of the Monad is inspired and enhanced by the Aquarian energy. The Monad is a ‘center of synthesis’ and a ‘center within synthesis’. The Aquarian energy stimulates the universality and synthetic awareness of the Monad.

14.  Within the Triad—Taurus is associated principally with buddhi as it bestows wisdom  and the “clear cold  light” of pure reason which is resonant to the “Greatest Light” of the monad. There is some association with atma as well, because Taurus and Vulcan are resonant to and expressive of Shamballa.

  14.   Within the Triad—Aquarius is related principally to higher manas and to atma as both of them reflect, to differing degrees, the Universal Mind (EA 241, 322, 495). Aquarius transmits the third ray constellationally (EA 138), and has rulers or sub-rulers which do the same. Aquarius “expresses the universal consciousness of the Great Bear” linking it to atma, in yet another way. The energy of Aquarius, as well, stimulates and blends with buddhi, principally by inducing loving group-cohesion. The Tibetan speaks of “universal love of the truly developed Aquarian.” (EA 136) This is an expression of buddhi.

15.  In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness (and causal body) through which it expresses—Taurus governs the causal body considered as a ‘treasury of transpersonal quality’ garnered from personal experience in the three lower worlds. Taurus is associated with soul-light and, through Vulcan, with the Jewel in the Lotus and the light emanating from that Jewel.   15.   In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness (and causal body) through which it expresses—Aquarius represents the dowering of the personality with all super-human, transcendental gifts which the Solar Angel may safely bestow. Aquarius represents the patient service of the Solar Angel to its long-developing personality, and the consequent elevation of the human soul from the human to the super-human state of the fifth kingdom—the Kingdom of Souls. Aquarius rules the generous distribution of beneficent Solar-Angelic radiation to (and through) its personality

16.  Within the Personality—Taurus can be identified with the luminosity and determination of the mental nature, for Taurus facilitates the state called the “mind held stead in the light”; with the strong desires, passions, incentives, aspirations of the astral nature; with the pranic vitality of the etheric nature; and, often, with the tamasic inertia of the dense physical nature. Taurus is especially related to the astral vehicle. (cf. EA 92, 380) (The vehicular focus and its degree of prominence, depends upon the stage of evolutionary development.)   16.   Within the Personality—Aquarius can be identified with the power to vitalize, unify and synthesize thought, which eventually develops within the lower mental nature; with the cleansing, drying, and eventual distributive radiation of the love-responsive astral nature; with the electric vitalization of the etheric nature; and, in general, with the nervous animation of the dense physical form. Aquarius “is eventually connected with the physical permanent atom.” (EA 302) (The vehicular focus and its degree of prominence, depends upon the stage of evolutionary development.)

Wider Relationships: Cosmic and Systemic

Taurus
In Comparison With
Aquarius
1.   Expressive of the third aspect of divinity because of its identification with light, but of the second aspect through association with the principles of consciousness and of wisdom. The first aspect is distributed through its ruling planet Vulcan.

  1.   Expressive, principally, of the third divine aspect “…the third ray expresses itself powerfully through this sign” (EA 138)—strongly connected, however, with both the first and second aspects. “At this time and in a peculiar manner, the initiate-consciousness sees the Hierarchy as primarily energised by life, and by the energy of Aquarius, carrying a hitherto unknown aspect of the life energy of deity.” (R&I 229) Aquarius rules Hierarchy. “…our Hierarchy [is] (an expression of the second aspect of divinity)…” (EA197)

2.   Cosmically, preeminently associated with the Pleiades. “…he constellation Taurus, the Bull, being found in the Pleiades.” (EA 111) “Aquarius relates humanity to the Pleiades and therefore to Taurus in an unusual manner.” (EA 200) “There is at this time, owing to the influx of the Shamballa force, the establishing of a peculiar relation or alignment between the constellation, Taurus (with its own specific alignment with the Pleiades and Great Bear) the planet, Pluto, and our Earth.” (EA 376) “A new light enters in. The Seven Sisters play their part (the Pleiades are in Taurus, the first sign of the Fixed Cross) and then three lights shine forth. And thus one radiant sun appears.” (EA 562)

  2.   Strong cosmic association with the Pole Star, Alcyone, also an invisible constellation, and the Great Bear: “The influence which emanates from the Pole Star and which is such a potent factor in our solar system reaches our planet via the sign Aquarius.” (TCF 1263) “Aquarius, Alcyone and Humanity constitute a most interesting triangle of force. Alcyone is one of the seven Pleiades and is called the ‘star of the Individual’ and sometimes the ‘star of intelligence’.” (EA 200) “The source of energy to which they respond may be regarded as the Pole Star.  It should nevertheless be pointed out that this star serves only as a blind for a constellation which lies behind,—a constellation which exists only in etheric matter.  It is consequently ignored by astronomers, though its influence is exceedingly potent within our system.” (TCF 1262) Also, “Aquarius—expresses the universal consciousness of the Great Bear.” (EA 349)

3.   Three Constellations Connected with Taurus: a) Orion—the Hunter; b) Eridanus—“The River of the Judge”; c) Auriga—the Charioteer (LOH 47-48)

  3.   Three Constellations Connected with Aquarius: a) Pisces Australes—the Southern Fish; b) Pegasus—the Winged Horse; c) Cygnus—The Swan (LOH 189-190)

Relationships Between Three Levels of Planetary Rulers,
and Planets in Exaltation, Fall and Detriment

Taurus
In Comparison With
Aquarius
1.   Vulcan is the esoteric and hierarchical ruler of Taurus.

1.   Vulcan is one of the three veiled hierarchical rulers of Aquarius, veiled by the Moon. (cf. EA 395)

2.   The Moon is exalted in Taurus.

  2.   The Moon is the hierarchical ruler of Aquarius.

3.   Uranus falls in Taurus.

  3.   Uranus is the exoteric ruler of Aquarius.

Subtle Relationships Between Rays, Zodiacal and Planetary Energies

Subtle Relationships Between Rays,
Zodiacal and Planetary Energies

Taurus
In Comparison With
Aquarius
1.   Taurus transmits the fourth ray constellationally.   1.   The Moon (hierarchical ruler) is the veiling transmitter of the fourth ray. Moon-veiled Vulcan is closely related to the fourth ray, the fourth kingdom, and the fourth initiation. Neptune ( a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) is associated with the fourth ray through its relationship to buddhi, and to the fourth , or buddhic, plane.

2.   Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, and has, therefore, numerical affinity with the number two, and with the second ray. If numbering is begun with Pisces (which the Tibetan demonstrates as possible), then Taurus is the eleventh sign on the clockwise wheel, hence resonant with the second ray.   2.   Aquarius is the eleventh sign on the reversed wheel. Since eleven sums to two, Aquarius has numerical affinity with the second ray. Jupiter, the esoteric ruler of Aquarius, transmits the second ray. Neptune, a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler, transmits the second ray monadically. Vulcan (a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) is associated with the “heart of the Sun” (EA   ), and Uranus (exoteric ruler) is placed in a line of second ray transmission from Sirius, and participates in the three lower vehicles (probably as the mental body)  of a great second ray Entity (EPII 99)

3.   Taurus, the twelfth sign on the clockwise wheel, is numerologically resonant to the number three, and, hence, to the third ray. Further, counting by polarities (Aries-Libra-Taurus-Scorpio-Gemini-etc.), Taurus is third in order, hence resonant to the third ray. Further, within the three “cosmic decanates”, Taurus, Scorpio, Pisces—Taurus is associated with the Buddha and the “light”, and obviously upholds a connection with the third ray—Scorpio being related to the first, and Pisces to the second. (cf. EA 204, 487).

  3.   “The third ray expresses itself powerfully through” Aquarius constellationally. (EA 138). Aquarius is also the third sign of the zodiac on the clock-wise wheel, therefore having numerical affinity with the third ray. Uranus transmits the third ray (probably through its personality) as does Saturn (considered an alternative ruler in this sign) through its Monad, and probably, also, its soul. The Moon-veiled Uranus also transmits the third ray.
4.   Venus is the exoteric ruler of Taurus and transmits the fifth ray.   4.   Aquarius transmits the fifth ray constellationally. Uranus, the exoteric ruler, (and a veiled hierarchial rulers) can stand for “exoteric science” (EP 149) and, hence, has fifth ray associations. Saturn, a possible alternative ruler, is associated with the concrete mind and, hence, with the fifth principle. Vulcan, (a veiled hierarchical ruler) relates to the concretion and physical precipitation, as does the fifth ray.

5.   Venus is “pure love-wisdom” and, therefore, can be seen as transmitting the second ray (probably as the personality ray) (cf. EA 281) (TCF 369)“…the second ray is the ray at present of the planetary Logos” (DINA II 210)

  5.   See #2 above.
6.   Venus is the “home of the planetary Logos of the sixth Ray” (EA 595) thus transmits the sixth ray, probably monadically, just as Uranus, with its first ray Monad, is the “home of fire electric” (TCF 1154)

  6.   Neptune (a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) transmits the sixth ray. Enthusiastic Jupiter has a probable connection to the sixth ray.

7.   Vulcan, the esoteric and hierarchical ruler of Taurus, transmits the first ray.   7.   Aquarius, itself, may have implicate first ray associations. “Aquarius—expresses the universal consciousness of the Great Bear” (EA 349) The Great Bear (as a whole) transmits the first ray. (cf. TCF 146). Aquarius, is the tenth sign on the reversed wheel, numbering by polarities (Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, etc.) and thus has numerical resonance with the first ray. Uranus, the exoteric ruler,  transmits the first ray monadically.  (EPI 421) Saturn, a possible alternative ruler in Aquarius, transmits the first ray probably in its personality, but perhaps its soul. (EA 450)  Moon-veiled Vulcan and Uranus both transmit the first ray—the first planet, as the monadic ray, the second, probably, as the soul ray.

8.   Vulcan is associated with the “heart of the sun” (EA 393) and, hence, with the second ray.

  8.   See #2 above.
9.   Vulcan may be involved in the direct transmission the fourth ray (DN 91—depending upon how this citation is understood), and, in any case, is connected strongly to the fourth kingdom (whether human or mineral, depending on the mode of counting); the fourth scheme (the Earth Scheme); and the fourth initiation within the Human Kingdom.

  9.   See #1 above.
10.   Vulcan, “the synthesis of matter” (TCF 597) is ruler of the mineral kingdom, and, as the “fashioner”, is closely associated with the concretizing forces of the fifth ray. (R&I 597)

  10.   See #4 above.
11.   Vulcan has resonance with the seventh ray through the principle of rhythm and precipitation..

  11.   Uranus transmits the seventh ray. Saturn has strong seventh ray associations. Jupiter (esoteric ruler) transmits the seventh ray.

12.   The Moon, exalted in Taurus, is a veil for the transmission of the fourth ray.

  12.   See #1 above.
13.   The Moon, exalted in Taurus, is closely associated with the third ray and the third aspect of divinity.

  13.   See #3 above.
14.   The Moon, exalted in Taurus, is closely connected to the third ray. (EA 280)

  14.   See #3 above.
15.   The Moon also is related to the seventh ray, through its (the Moon’s) rulership of the seventh manifested Creative Hierarchy, and, in general, through its association with the dense physical plane—the lowest part of the seventh plane.

  15.   See #11 above.

Similarities and Points of Cooperation Between the Influences

 Similarities and Points of Cooperation
Between Taurus and Aquarius

Both signs can be ecological

Taurus and Aquarius are both fixed signs. Taurus representing the fixity of emotional attitudes and Aquarius the fixity of thought.

Both are involved co-operatively in the relationship between the Hierarchy (ruled by Aquarius) and the New Group of World Servers (ruled by Taurus).

They are pre-eminently signs of healing and are related to the etheric body. Taurus rules the prana and the health of the etheric body, Aquarius rules the structure of the etheric body and the free circulation and distribution of energies throughout the etheric body.

Taurus is a sign in which the ways of nature are exalted and Aquarius brings in the manipulation of energies in a new way. Taken together, all natural energies can be optimized in diverse ways of application.

Both Aquarius and Taurus share ecological themes. Taurus, the sign of nature, prefers the continuation of those ways which enhance the beauty and fertility of all natural life upon the earth. Taurus promotes the vitality of nature and sets itself against the despoiling of the natural environment but the health of any environment results from right distribution of energy and so Aquarius too has a profound ecological consciousness and seeks to organize the right distribution of energy so as to preserve the health and balance of the living eco-systems.

Being close to nature, Aquarians and Taureans find themeslves in harmony with the deva kingdom. The Aquarian age will be the age of revelation of the nature and work of the devas and through understanding these beings, the earth represented by Taurus can be protected.

Both of these signs are related to money and the distribution of money. It has been said that man does not live by bread alone, but how he shares his bread or food or money or substance which is of the utmost importance for the health of the human family.

Taurus represents all the natural products of the earth and the wealth derived from them. Aquarius represents the right sharing and distribution of these products so that each unit of life receives its due rewards and selfish accumulation is overcome.

Aquarius, while not an earth sign, is associated with the 12th Creative Hierarchy known as the "Baskets of Nourishment." This is the most earthy of all the creative hierarchies and its title reveals the relationship between Aquarius and the feeding/nurturing process. Taurus, also through its connection to prana, is related to that which nourishes, that which is not bread alone is in fact prana or vital energy drawn from the ethers. The etheric connection is shared between these two signs.

Prana is ambient vital energy and Taurean individuals are able to specialize a great measure of it which they can share with others in a healing process. Aquarius, as a sign, rules the free circulation of all energies and has a special connection with invisible, vital energies.

Techniques for the assimilation of which the progressive Aquarian scientist/occultist will evolve.

These signs are interestingly connected through their relationship to Alcyone, the so-called star of the individual. Alcyone is found within the constellation Taurus in the Pleiadian cluster and the Tibetan points out that Aquarius, as a constellation, is related to this star. This star was extremely active during the previous solar system as was the constellation Aquarius.

In some strange way, both Aquarius and Taurus are related to vestigial matter which must be re-animated and rendered subject to the principles which exist in this solar system. Aquarius is associated with the unresponsive lives known as the "Baskets of Nourishment" and Taurus too is associated with the tamasic or non-responsive nature of matter.

Both signs are involved in the concept of burdens. Taurus represents weight itself and that which must be carried from place to place. Aquarius is the bearer of burdens and seeks to lift all unrelated lives into a related state in which the revivifying energies of life may be freely circulated.

Both Aquarius and Taurus are constructive signs. Taurus ever the builder, seeks to build according to its intentionhigh or low. Aquarius through its connection with the three synthesizing planets, each of which may be said to be the veiled hierarchical ruler through its association with the fulfilling energy of Jupiter and the re-organizing energies of Uranus, its exoteric ruler, seeks to build the form for the new ageutopia.  This building must occur according to an archetypal design to which the advanced Aquarian individual is uniquely sensitive.

Through the Venus rulership of Taurus and the Jupiter rulership of Aquarius, the necessary materials may be gathered and fulfillment achieved. Both of these signs are intimately associated with the redemption of matter through right construction and that construction is carried out through the agency of Vulcan wielding the spiritual will as esoteric and hierarchical ruler of Taurus and potentially one of the hierarchical rulers veiled by the Moon in Aquarius.

The union of these two signs finds the way by which natural values may be preserved even as a new and better system is instituted.

It may be said that Taurus and Aquarius also share a sensitivity to sound as a creative agent. Let us remember that sound is one of the chief means of controlling the deva kingdom which is so closely related to the preservation of the natural condition of the earth.

Each of these signs is uniquely sensitive to vibration via the vibration-inducing power of Vulcan. The strong 7th ray which is found in association with the energy of Aquarius via Uranus, and also one of the rays of Jupiter, is a ray which sensitizes to sound.

It will be found that each of the signs, when its various associated planets are considered and all the potential rays of these planets are considered as well, will be found to have an extraordinary array of available energies.

Suffice to say that both Taurus and Aquarius share the ability to control the subtle forces of nature through the influence of sound and vibration and in general through the magical processes.

Both of these signs are active in the telepathic process. Taurus becomes a sender and receiver through the agency of the Ajna centre and Aquarius has a generalized and universalized sensitivity to the transmission of energies.

Aquarius rules all forms of wireless communication even those forms which are extrapolated to the higher levels of human nature. Again this is a form of etheric sensitivity and Aquarius as Taurus, are both closely related to the etheric body.
