1.   Esoteric Mantram: I recognise my other self, and in the waning of that self, I grow and glow.

  1.   Esoteric Mantram: Water of life am I, poured forth for thirsty men.

2.   Exoteric/Evolutionary Mantram: And the Word said: Let instability do its work.

  2.   Exoteric/Evolutionary Mantram: And the Word said: Let desire in form be ruler.

  5.   Fixed Cross

6.   Transmits R2 constellationally

  6.   Transmits R5 constellationally. Secondary and subtle transmissions of R3 and R1 are possible.

7.   Secondarily, (assuredly, but not exclusively), transmits R4, R5 and R3 through Mercury, Venus and the Earth—its three planetary rulers on three levels—exoteric, esoteric and hierarchical.

  7.   Secondarily, (assuredly, but not exclusively) Aquarius transmits R7, R2 and R4 (with R1, R6, and R7), through Uranus, Jupiter and the Moon, veiling Vulcan, Neptune and Uranus—all these are its planetary rulers on three levels—exoteric, esoteric and hierarchical.

8.   Color: yellow

  8.   Color: turquoise

9.   Creative Hierarchy number IV (unmanifested), characterized by the “Desire for Duality”

  9.   Creative Hierarchy number XII (manifested) and XII of the twelve. Elemental Lives; the Baskets of Nourishment; the Blinded Lives

10.   Associated with the establishing of relationship between Father, Mother and Child at the first initiation (cf. EA 388); the clarifying, mind-illumining second initiation (EA 157, GWP 271); the crucifying, illusion-renouncing fourth (EA 472); and the resurrecting seventh initiations (the second ray initiation of fulfilled Love-Wisdom). (cf. R&I 88-89)

  10.   Association with refuse-flushing, fire-cleansing, fellowship-inducing second initiation; the ego-negating, light-pervading, soul-inspiring third initiation; the personality-renouncing, life-energizing fourth initiation; and, conceivably, with the abundant life of the beneficently organizing fifth degree.

11.   Gemini (the third sign) can be associated with the thought-configuring, articulating throat center under the third ray; also with the duality-resolving, unifying heart center, and with the manipulating/blessing centers in the palms. Dualistic Gemini (ruled by oscillatory Mercury) can also be associated with the dualistic, decision-making, polarity-integrating ajna center, and with the system-uniting “kundalini” at the base of the spine. “Mercury demonstrates kundalini in intelligent activity” (EA 181)

  11.   Aquarius can be reasonably associated with the entire abundantly-radiating, synthetic crown center, and the united radiation of the chakra centers as a whole. When the ajna center responds to the universal mind, the envisioning of the archetypally-destined future appears. Aquarius transmits the third ray, and thus relates to the throat center (through ruling Saturn, Uranus and Vulcan as well). Aquarius, is esoterically ruled by Jupiter, the planet controlling the group-inclusive heart center. The evolving Aquarian is subject to many emotional highs and lows, thus connecting Aquarius to the solar plexus center. (EA 141-142) Also, through Uranus, with the form-creating sacral center which generates “waters of life” in a more material sense. As well, seventh-ray Uranus is numerically related to the seventh or basal center, bringing Aquarius into the relation.

12.   The zodiacal signs influence the Monad of every human being (EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Gemini makes it possible for the “Brother” who is the “prodigal son” to go forth into a “far country” (as the Monad-in-substantial-immersion), and yet, remain ‘at home’ within the Father’s House as the “elder Brother” Who did not go forth (i.e., as the Monad undiminished upon its own level of consciousness). Thus is the Monad “in the world yet not of the world”. Gemini endows the Monad with its all-pervasive omnipresence relative to the human energy system. “Having pervaded the entire Universe with a fragment of myself, I remain.”

  12.   The zodiacal signs influence the Monad of every human being (EA 411, 637, TCF 1191); the influence from Aquarius governs the large monadic groups or ‘monadic ashrams’, which aggregations exist upon the monadic plane. The universal awareness of the Monad is inspired and enhanced by the Aquarian energy. The Monad is a ‘center of synthesis’ and a ‘center within synthesis’. The Aquarian energy stimulates the universality and synthetic awareness of the Monad.

13.   Within the Triad—Gemini, the third sign, is related to higher manas (the third aspect of the Triad). Higher manas formulates into abstract thought the revelations of the ‘idea-patterns’ to be found upon the buddhic plane. Gemini, as its dualistic symbol reveals, is also related to the divine love, pure reason and intuitive revelations of buddhi, the second aspect of the Spiritual Triad.

  13.   Within the Triad—Aquarius is related principally to higher manas and to atma as both of them reflect, to differing degrees, the Universal Mind (EA 241, 322, 495). Aquarius transmits the third ray constellationally (EA 138), and has rulers or sub-rulers which do the same. Aquarius “expresses the universal consciousness of the Great Bear” linking it to atma, in yet another way. The energy of Aquarius, as well, stimulates and blends with buddhi, principally by inducing loving group-cohesion. The Tibetan speaks of “universal love of the truly developed Aquarian.” (EA 136) This is an expression of buddhi.

14.   In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness (and causal body) through which it expresses—Gemini can be seen as governing the pulsations of Solar-Angelic thought and vitality which rhythmically stimulate the personality. Gemini can be associated with the attempt the Solar Angel to communicate with and instruct the personality.

  14.   In relation to the Solar Angel, and the soul-consciousness (and causal body) through which it expresses—Aquarius represents the dowering of the personality with all super-human, transcendental gifts which the Solar Angel may safely bestow. Aquarius represents the patient service of the Solar Angel to its long-developing personality, and the consequent elevation of the human soul from the human to the super-human state of the fifth kingdom—the Kingdom of Souls. Aquarius rules the generous distribution of beneficent Solar-Angelic radiation to (and through) its personality

15.   Within the Personality—Gemini can be identified with the flexible associative processes and informational receptivity of the lower mental nature, which becomes, eventually, especially responsive to the antahkarana; with the bi-polar fluctuations of the astral nature, vacillating conflicted between the pairs of opposites (EA 362); in general, with the etheric nature and its network of interplaying vital-electric currents and with the sprightliness and rejuvenation of the dense physical  nature. Gemini is especially related to the etheric vehicle. (EA 352) (The vehicular focus and its degree of prominence, depends upon the stage of evolutionary development.)

  15.   Within the Personality—Aquarius can be identified with the power to vitalize, unify and synthesize thought, which eventually develops within the lower mental nature; with the cleansing, drying, and eventual distributive radiation of the love-responsive astral nature; with the electric vitalization of the etheric nature; and, in general, with the nervous animation of the dense physical form. Aquarius “is eventually connected with the physical permanent atom.” (EA 302) (The vehicular focus and its degree of prominence, depends upon the stage of evolutionary development.)

16.   Stage within a Preliminary Fourfold Meditative Process: Vitalization

  16.  Stage of Meditative Consciousness: Pervasion

Gemini
In Comparison With
Aquarius
1.   Expressive, principally, of the second or Love aspect of divinity. (EA 351) “It is the constellation Gemini and its inherent second ray influence which control every one of the pairs of opposites in the Great Wheel.” (EA 346) Gemini, ‘Lord of Intelligence’, is also closely linked by numerical affinity to the third or Intelligence aspect. “…Gemini is the third sign and embodies what is called ‘a third potency’…” (EA 355) “Ray 3.—Active Intelligence, under the influence of this third sign, Gemini, slowly conditioning the etheric body.” (EA 357)

  1.   Expressive, principally, of the third divine aspect “…the third ray expresses itself powerfully through this sign” (EA 138)—strongly connected, however, with both the first and second aspects. “At this time and in a peculiar manner, the initiate-consciousness sees the Hierarchy as primarily energised by life, and by the energy of Aquarius, carrying a hitherto unknown aspect of the life energy of deity.” (R&I 229) Aquarius rules Hierarchy. “…our Hierarchy [is] (an expression of the second aspect of divinity)…” (EA197)

2.   Cosmically associated with Sirius. “1. Gemini—forms a point of entrance for cosmic energy from Sirius.” (EA 349) Sirius and Gemini are both related to Masonry. (cf. EA 350) Sirius and Gemini were active together in the individualization process. (cf. EA 355) Gemini is also associated with the Pleiades. “Gemini—Sagittarius—Mercury (which are an expression of the Pleiades) enable the Probationary Disciple to pass on to the Path of Accepted Discipleship.” (EA 466)

  2.   Strong cosmic association with the Pole Star, Alcyone, also an invisible constellation, and the Great Bear: “The influence which emanates from the Pole Star and which is such a potent factor in our solar system reaches our planet via the sign Aquarius.” (TCF 1263) “Aquarius, Alcyone and Humanity constitute a most interesting triangle of force. Alcyone is one of the seven Pleiades and is called the ‘star of the Individual’ and sometimes the ‘star of intelligence’.” (EA 200) “The source of energy to which they respond may be regarded as the Pole Star.  It should nevertheless be pointed out that this star serves only as a blind for a constellation which lies behind,—a constellation which exists only in etheric matter.  It is consequently ignored by astronomers, though its influence is exceedingly potent within our system.” (TCF 1262) Also, “Aquarius—expresses the universal consciousness of the Great Bear.” (EA 349)

3.   Three Constellations Connected with Gemini: a) Lepus—the Hare; b) Canis Minor—the Lesser Dog (including Procyon) c) Canis Major—the Greater Dog (including Sirius) (LOH 68-70)

  3.   Three Constellations Connected with Aquarius: a) Pisces Australes—the Southern Fish; b) Pegasus—the Winged Horse; c) Cygnus—The Swan (LOH 189-190)

Subtle Relationships Between Rays, Zodiacal and Planetary Energies

Subtle Relationships Between Rays,
Zodiacal and Planetary Energies

Gemini
In Comparison With
Aquarius
1.   Gemini transmits the second ray constellationally

  1.   Aquarius is the eleventh sign on the reversed wheel. Since eleven sums to two, Aquarius has numerical affinity with the second ray. Jupiter, the esoteric ruler of Aquarius, transmits the second ray. Neptune, a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler, transmits the second ray monadically. Vulcan (a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) is associated with the “heart of the Sun” (EA   ), and Uranus (exoteric ruler) is placed in a line of second ray transmission from Sirius, and participates in the three lower vehicles (probably as the mental body)  of a great second ray Entity (EPII 99)

2.   Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac on the reversed wheel, and therefore, has numerical affinity with the number three and with the third ray “Ray 3.—Active Intelligence, under the influence of this third sign, Gemini, slowly conditioning the etheric body.” (EA 357)“The fact that Gemini is the third sign and embodies what is called ‘a third potency’ enabled it to reach, with its force, the third kingdom and produce that reaction which resulted in the individualising or the humanising of its higher forms of life.” (EA 355)

  2.   “The third ray expresses itself powerfully through” Aquarius constellationally. (EA 138). Aquarius is also the third sign of the zodiac on the clock-wise wheel, therefore having numerical affinity with the third ray. Uranus transmits the third ray (probably through its personality) as does Saturn (considered an alternative ruler in this sign) through its Monad, and probably, also, its soul. The Moon-veiled Uranus also transmits the third ray.

3.   Gemini is the eleventh sign of the zodiac on the clockwise wheel and, therefore, has numerical affinity with the number two and with the second ray.

  3.   See #2 above.

4.   Gemini is also the fifth sign in the series of sign if one proceeds by polarities (Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, Gemini-etc.) Thus, Gemini, from this perspective, has numerical resonance with the fifth ray.

  4.   Aquarius transmits the fifth ray constellationally. Uranus, the exoteric ruler, (and a veiled hierarchial rulers) can stand for “exoteric science” (EP 149) and, hence, has fifth ray associations. Saturn, a possible alternative ruler, is associated with the concrete mind and, hence, with the fifth principle. Vulcan, (a veiled hierarchical ruler) relates to the concretion and physical precipitation, as does the fifth ray.

5.   Gemini is the tenth sign of the zodiac on the clockwise wheel, IF one begins numbering from Pisces (as the Tibetan does in relation to Leo) This indicates a resonance with the first ray, though there is, otherwise, little first ray to be found within this sign, proper.

  5.   Aquarius, itself, may have implicate first ray associations. “Aquarius—expresses the universal consciousness of the Great Bear” (EA 349) The Great Bear (as a whole) transmits the first ray. (cf. TCF 146). Aquarius, is the tenth sign on the reversed wheel, numbering by polarities (Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, etc.) and thus has numerical resonance with the first ray. Uranus, the exoteric ruler,  transmits the first ray monadically.  (EPI 421) Saturn, a possible alternative ruler in Aquarius, transmits the first ray probably in its personality, but perhaps its soul. (EA 450)  Moon-veiled Vulcan and Uranus both transmit the first ray—the first as the monadic ray, the second, probably, as the soul ray.

6.   Mercury is the exoteric ruler of Gemini and transmits the fourth ray. As well, the constellation Gemini is associated with the fourth ray. Ray 4.—Harmony through Conflict, under the influence of Gemini-Sagittarius, staging those situations upon the astral plane which will produce the conflict in the astral body which is essential to the final treading of the burning ground and subsequent release.”  (EA 357)

  6.   The Moon (hierarchical ruler) is the veiling transmitter of the fourth ray. Moon-veiled Vulcan is closely related to the fourth ray, the fourth kingdom, and the fourth initiation. Neptune ( a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) is associated with the fourth ray through its relationship to buddhi, and to the fourth , or buddhic, plane.

7.   Mercury is closely associated with the third ray, and probably transmits this ray as its personality ray.

  7.   See #2 above.

8.   Mercury has a close relation to the fifth ray, through its relation to the fifth scheme, the fifth round, the fifth race and sub-race. “The fifth race is born under Mercury.” (EA 663)

  8.   See #4 above.

9.   Venus, the esoteric ruler of Gemini, transmits the fifth ray.

  9.   See #4 above.

10.   Venus is “pure love-wisdom” and, therefore, can be seen as transmitting the second ray (probably as the personality ray) (cf. EA 281) “…the second ray is the ray at present of the planetary Logos” (DINA II 210)

  10.   See #1 above.

11.   Venus is the “home of the planetary Logos of the sixth Ray” (EA 595) thus transmits the sixth ray, probably monadically, just as Uranus, with its first ray Monad, is the “home of fire electric” (TCF 1154)

  11.   Neptune (a Moon-veiled hierarchical ruler) transmits the sixth ray. Enthusiastic Jupiter has a probable connection to the sixth ray.

12.   The Earth is the hierarchical ruler of Gemini and transmits the third ray, its personality ray. “…it was necessary to call attention to this great determining factor, the third ray, which is the personality ray of our planetary Logos.” (EP I 338) (cf. EA 619)

  12.   See #2 above.

13.   The Earth transmits the second ray, its soul ray. “It [the first ray] is the monadic ray of our planetary Logos, Whose Soul ray is the second and the personality ray the third.” (EA 619)

  13.   See #1 above.

14.   The Earth transmits (however weakly) the first ray—its monadic ray. (cf. EA 619)

  14.   See #5 above.

15.   There are no strong seventh ray transmissions through Gemini, proper. Jupiter and Saturn, which have a special relation to this sign (one demonstrating the fusion of Spirit and soul, and the other the confrontation with the Dweller) both have seventh ray components.

  15.   Uranus transmits the seventh ray. Saturn has strong seventh ray associations. Jupiter (esoteric ruler) transmits the seventh ray.

Similarities and Points of Cooperation Between the Influences

 Similarities and Points of Cooperation
Between the Zodiacal Influences

There are many similarities between these 2 air signs. Both are highly mental, though Aquarius is used to handling more will whereas

Gemini rules the relationship between the concrete mind, the Son of mind and the intuitive mind, Aquarius has more to do with the universal mind.

Both make great networkers and through their power of relating, can create synthesis.

Both are strongly related to the etheric body and to the circulation of energies within he etheric body, though the power of the etheric body is more related to Aquarius. Both are signs of circulation, not only of the etheric body but the nervous system is implicated and the circulation of nervous electric energy along the nerves and nadis come under the province of both signs.

They have much to do with the factor of intelligence and counting from Aries clockwise, one reaches Aquarius and counter-clockwise, one reaches Gemini. So there is much of mobility in these two signs though Aquarius is given more to rigidity and fixity of opinion.

Still there is a willingness in both signs to entertain ideas of an unusual nature. Interestingly, the exoteric ruler of each is at home in the other sign and the exoteric rulers are related in terms of octaves, Uranus being the higher octave of Mercury.

The esoteric rulers are also related especially to the egoic lotus and the causal body and the love of the group.  Again, the more powerful planet, Jupiter being the exoteric ruler of Aquarius and Venus the esoteric ruler of Gemini.

Even the hierarchical rulers are related for the moon is hierarchical ruler of Aquarius and could certainly be considered a pair  with earth as the hierarchical ruler of Gemini.

These signs are both related especially to the spiritual hierarchy. Aquarius rules hierarchy particularly since it is the great transformative body and is working its transformation out upon the human kingdom. It is the heart center of the planet and curiously, Aquarius is associated with the heart center and its circulatory system as is Gemini through its distribution of the 2nd Ray.

The aspect of Hierarchy related to Gemini is the teaching aspect, for it is a great teaching body and perhaps there is a no more instructive sign than Gemini – the sign of teaching and learning, distributing the 2nd ray of Love/Wisdom, the Ray of the teacher. So there is much of the 2nd ray in these 2 signs, together entering in various ways. Either as a ray directly through the constellation or in association with one of the planets ruling the constellation.

Both signs too, are much associated with the body but not body in terms of the matter of the previous solar system but body in terms of the etheric nature which is the true body. They provide conduits for the transmission of a whole range of energies into the etheric body.

Both rule bi-polar disorders—manic depressiveness. Both signs are active for change in as much as the fertilization of the mind is needed for any kind of legitimate change. I would say they are agents of intelligent change. It is true that Aquarius is willing to pursue that change in vehemence and even some degree of violence for Uranus has about it much of electric will. Nevertheless both signs share what might be called a progressive attitude of mind.

Equally, as with all air signs, there is the ability to detach mentally from the contents of the emotional vehicle. It is certainly  possible to have an emotionally polarized Geminian or Aquarian individual and if this is the case there will be many fluctuations between the poles for Gemini does not have a monopoly upon this fluctuation and the glyph of Aquarius, as indicated by the Tibetan, demonstrates the hill and valley experience alternating between elation and depression but the mental attitude is very powerful in these two signs and is able to negate the usual glamorous attractions associated with the emotional plane. In another sense these are signs which share great and consuming mental interest.

The wide variety in creation is noted by individuals born in each of these signs and all manner of knowledge is considered significant and worthy of correlation and inter-relation. Clearly, as well, the factor of communication is shared by them both which fits well with these signs being basically distributive in nature.

They promote circulation of all kinds and movement of all kinds, leading to a completed network, inter-related and synthesized.
